I have a 4 year old AEG Favorit Dishwasher which reports an anti-flood fault. I have removed the unit from its build-in location and tilted the unit forward to drain the sump. This did overcome the problem initially, however the problem has returned. I have remove the left side panel to reveal a transparent filter container, on further inspection I have noted that when the dish washer fills with water in a wash cycle, water leaks from behind the panel. This would appear to be the cause of the problem.
My question is 1) what is this the name of this filter 2) Can it be replaced 3) Can I fix it myself?
I assume that this leak is from the flat tank on the side of the machiene. Any water leak to the bottom of the machiene puts the washer in ANTI FLOOD mode with the pump out motor activated. You can remove the flat tank by disconnecting the hoses to it and pulling it upwards. If you find a small leak just run it over with a hot soldering iron to melt closed the small leak. Also note that this tank has a small outlet pipe that deliberatly discharges water to the anti flood device (polystireen float / micro switch at the base of washer) in case of a fault (blocked pipe / leak etc).
