Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

1 Answer

Laptop Screen White

My laptop screen had been showing me weird lines and was slightly lighter in color on the right side of my screen. This would go away if I twisted the screen and adjusted it slightly.

Now, my laptop screen is white but am using an external monitor.
It looks like a fog over my screen.

So do I need to buy a new screen?? Any help is appreciated.

Yup. Bad lcd. If under warranty, have the manufacturer replace it. If not under warranty, visit ebay for the least expensive lcd's. Won't find them cheaper anywhere else. Just buy from a seller with a decent rating. Some are offering 100-120 day warranties on new lcd's. You can also find used ones there, as is.

Dell Latitude D505 half of screen is black with colored vertical lines.

Sounds like you have a section of dead pixels. This can happen if the laptop has been dropped a lot or stepped on or some type of impact on the laptop. This is a hardware issue. You will need to have the screen replaced. In my opinion, by the age of the laptop, its better off getting a new one.

I would try using an external display. That will prove the GPU. If it is OK then the display is faulty, if not the GPU is faulty.

White on one side of screen with black spots and colored lines

You can use the following website to try and fix some of these pixels that are stuck on the wrong colors:

However, it may just be a defective screen. You may need to have it replaced under warranty (and this most definitely will be covered)

Whenever i hold the screen with a little bit of pressure it works and the pictured clear but if i dont it goes all weird and colored lines start going through the picture or it goes straight to a white...

It could be due to some loosing insde the laptop screen. In my view there are two things.
1. The data connection between the laptop motherboard and the screen (through cable)
2. The connectors inside the screen.

It is highly recommended that you get the laptop checked by a professional to avoid any further damage to it.

Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

I have a HP dv5000 notebook and the screen started showing weird colord lines and eventually turned black. I replaced the inverter and it worked for a couple of days then it did the same thing. I...

Hello,

The problem is not from the inverter of the laptop. It is the module that is faulty, the module is like a flex in the laptop that assists in getting information from the motherboard to the screen, if it is faulty, it will start showing weird colors or start having some screen malfunctions.

Have the module replaced and the laptop will be in good condition once again. I had such experience with my HP530 and i replaced the module, trust me it worked perfectly fine.

Take care and good luck
