Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
Posted by Anonymous on
Hi Anonymous, is the machine draining out? If not,the pressure switch will not allow the door to unlock to keep from spilling gallons of water on your floor. If that's the case, there's probably something blocking the drain pump. A sock, bunch of lint or even a quarter can block the pump intake. You should be able to access the pump clean out behind the small door at the bottom of the front panel. Get a good wet vac and slowly open the trap and vacuum until no more water is leaking out. If that doesn't solve the problem, it could be a bad door lock assembly, which will need to be replaced. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Door can't be opened
Potential reasons for it: - Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure - In this case it should be replaced. - Door Lock unit is broken or removed from the door. - Look for disconnected wires to the door Lock/Switch unit. - Door Lock/Switch unit Failure First disconnect the machine power cable from the wall socket. This worked for me. I turned off the washer and hit the area on the washer directly to the right of the door handle (not hard enough to break something or cause a dent). It popped right open.
