Change a belt

You did not state your model or make so I can't explain how to change your model but most vacuums you must remove the bottom plate held on by screws that covers the brush roll, remove the brush roll and belt and reverse the process with the new belt. Some models have the brush roll held in by screws and/or brackets, some brush rolls slide down into slots. Replace the brush roll if the bristles are worn or frayed. If you are not replacing the brush roll remove the endcaps if possible and clear any hair or debris that has worked it's way in there.
Cogged belts are different from stretch belts and do not need to be replaced at least once per year like stretch belts do. You should still remove the brush roll at least once or twice per year to clean out debris. Maybe more often if it gets hair or strings wrapped around it which can build up causing friction and heat which can melt or damage the brush roll or even the nozzle housing.

How to replace belt on a bissell 66e1 pro heat lift off pet carpet cleaner

There are two belts on your model. Remove the screws on the end cap assembly on each side to remove the assembly to gain access to the belts. Remove the screws holding the brush roll assembly to remove and replace the belts.

I have a Singer 478 sewing machine and need to replace the top gear on the verticle shaft. Is there a repair manual for doing this. There was not category expert on this so please direct to the correct...

This is an easy fix. a lot disassembly required, you will need to gain access through the belt side to the singer cover plate, four clips hold it on from the back side. Once that is off, two screw hold small access plate which is under the letters Sin, remove plate, rotate shaft to access screw through opening which holds Vertical Top Shaft Gear, Singer # 155819 in place. Remove bottom cover, locate belt pulleys (2), remove cam tensioner, with a hex wrench remove pulleys, this makes it easier to remove lower belt. with a long thin, blade screwdriver, loosen screw on gear (through small access cover), slide shaft downward Rand R gear, reverse process, done. Be sure you document removal, take pictures, mark references with marking pen. This makes reassembly easy. I just replaced mine, I am handy but not an expert, hope this helps you...

How can I tell if I need to replace the beater bar? I replaced the belt but now it seems too tight and the bar doesn't want to spin.

The belt is supposed to be tight, but the beater bar bearings are probably full of string, hair, and thread. Remove the bar, remove, clean, and oil the bearings (3-1 or similar). Leave the belt off for a moment, and install just the bar. Spin it with your fingers--it should revolve freely--if not, redo the clean/lube process again making sure to clean the inside of the bearings with a Q-tip swab. Once the bar spins freely, remove it to slide on the belt and reinstall. Hope this helps!

I need a Hayden Superpack Deluxe owners manual so I can change the belt

Hi There,

Actually Hayden uses Panasonic to make all of their power nozzles. Replacing the belt on your Hayden is the identical process to replacing the belt on Panasonic canisters. Kenmore canisters also use Panasonic power nozzles, it's the same process with these.

There is also a power nozzle overload switch on the top of the power nozzle that will shut down if anything is vacuumed up that causes stress on the belt. Try pushing this reset switch before opening up the power nozzle to install a belt. It may be something as simple as a reset switch.

If this doesn't work, here's a link to a repair that I've posted on Fixya on how to replace the belt on a Kenmore canister power nozzle, the process will be identical to your Hayden power nozzle.

Hopefully this helped you. Please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave feedback for the fixya community.

Thank you,

Chris

Howdo I replace dyson belt??

Replacing the belt on the DC-17 is not complicated at all. Once I understood how, the process took about 5 minutes. My best suggestion is to call Dyson and they will quickly and cheerfully walk you through it without making you feel stupid. Here is what they told me: 1. Remove the bottom plate that covers the beater bar, using a flat head screwdriver; pull the beater bar out so that it is only attached by the belt. 2. Use the flat head screwdriver to wedge the belt off the beater bar. It takes a little bit of wiggling, but it is not difficult. 3. Once the belt is free of the beater bar, use the screwdriver to unhook it from the gear that is attached to the motor inside. 4. With the new belt, repeat the steps in reverse, hooking the new belt onto the motor gear, over the beater bar, etc.

How do I **** the air out of a storage bag?

Facing the front of the machine, turn the belt lifter knob counterclockwise till it stops.Lift the headlight hood and unlatch the brushead from the machine.Place the large end of hose to machine, and lock it down. You are now ready to remove the air from the bags.
Note:Anytime you have to remove or replace the brushead, make the belt lifter knb the first thing you turn when removing, and the last thing you turn when reinstalling. It will save you alot of confusion in the process.
