Where was the pen stuck? All the gears in that printer are plastic and therefore are subject to shearing off or stripping.

A flashing exclamation mark is typically associated with a sever cartridge error (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print cartridge(s) problem" etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics of the HP #901 / 901XL cartridge are damaged. Have you tried replacing the ink cartridge with a new HP genuine cartridge to confirm?

NOTE: The cartridge's electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure. I suggest you first run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass the error (temporarily) on all models which use HP 901 cartridges. The best way to get out of that trouble is to uninstall all CS applications and re-install the one you would like to use. CS5 came with alot of new features and in a way, upgrading CS1 to CS5 would surely give you a bit of a headache.

From what I've read, it seems that a "pen failure" is a cryptic message to indicate a cartridge failure. Replacing your print cartridges should solve the problem.

Description:
Indicates that an internal power failure has
occurred.
Action:
1. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer
back on.
2. Replace the high-voltage power supply.
3. Check the fuser to ensure jams have not

Your ink cartridge is bad.

refix your cartidge .may be your cartridge is faulty.

I have a G-Pen 340 which i just bought and the pen isn't being registered on the computer. The green light isnt even flashing :( I dont know whats wrong with it.
