Hello! Try this:
1. Unplug the power cord
2. While pressing the ON button, plug the power cord back in.
The power light should flash an orange/yellow color.
Continue pressing the ON button, and press the RESUME button 4 times. The light changes every time you press it.
3. Release both buttons, and restart the printer.
The printer should now stop blinking and operate as usual.
I hope this works for you. OMS

SOURCE: error 5100? What does that mean
Hi You can Try 2 things.
There is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there
It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Clean the timing strip.
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .
Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

I just went through this. My problem was that I had something
obstructing my print cartridge. I took the back off with 3 screws, then
the side panel (on the cartridge side). this was real easy, take the
trim off and there is one screw, then find the little arrows that show
where the tabs are that slide into the side of the printer itself. I
used a flat head screw driver to unsnap them. Once open, I tipped my
printer side ways and saw the object in there. Put it back together and
now it works.
But the problem you are having could just be as simple as a loose cartridge. Take the cartridges out and put them back in making sure they snap in.

I suspect you had a paper jam and removed it from under the main cover. It sounds like you have got grease on the encoder strip (the long blackish plastic strip that runs the full width of the machine. The carriage looks at the encoder so it knows where it is. Clean the encoder with soapy water on a cotton bud. You may have even snapped the encoder which will mean you will need a new one.
