I have a Kenmore Fridge Model 596-729-12200

fb4dfaa6-7995-4ceb-a384-cb74f4ab1f6a.jpgThe fresh food section has a 67003410 Damper that has a thermostat probe that senses the fresh food section temperatures and then regulates the fresh food section cold air from freezer by opening and closing to maintain a set temperature. If defective the damper may remain closed or remain closed. You can test the damper by removing and placing the temperature probe into a glass filled with ice and no water. The damper should close in the ice and open when not in the ice. I will be here to answer any questions you have, Thanks Sea Breeze

Damper won't close

Depending on the correct model number found inside the fresh food section will help diagnose but it sounds like either a defective temperature sensor or the damper itself is the cause. If your model number is a USA model number I can look up what part number and tell you better by looking at parts manual. Let me know the model number and I will try to help you find the correct parts, Thanks Sea Breeze

GE Profile refrigerator Model PFS22SISBSS is not cooling, the digital temp control is at 74 when I try to lower it will go to 34 then immediately back to 74. The fan and freezer are both working. A repair...

The problem is damper assembly. In the damper assembly there is a door. This door opens and close with the help of motor. The damper is located between freezer and fridge section. The cold air from freezer section enters to fridge section via this damper door.---------- What repairmen did was proper, but may be that door is not properly got open, it got closed again.Or there is ice got collected between the freezer and freezer section, so this is not letting the cool air to pass from freezer to fridge.----------- ---------- This damper assembly needs to be replaced.Actually this door functions correctly with motor. He open the damper door manually and thought, the cool air will enter the fridge section non stop, but that door is again got closed, by some how.--------- You will have to get the damper assembly part replaced, to get the air flow work properly.------- As the repair man has already ordered the part, otherwise you can get this parts from online sites like www.repairclinic.com or from sears parts direct site.-------- Getting the damper door assembly, replaced will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I want to know what a lever in a fire place is

The lever at the top of the fireplace operates the "damper". The damper is a door that opens the fireplace to the outside via the chimney.

The damper must remain open whenever a fire is burning in the fireplace to allow smoke to escape out the chimney instead of filling the fireplace and eventually, the room. The damper should be opened prior to starting a fire, otherwise the handle will be too hot to handle. Once the fire has gone completely out, the damper should be closed to prevent heat from being drawn out of the room / home. You can easily check is your damper is open or closed by simply looking up the chimney. If dark, it is closed. If light(er) it is open. Do not operate the damper while looking up - as dirt, soot, rust, etc. can fall when doing so.

The damper also prevents pests from enter the room / home. It is not uncommon for birds, bats squirrels, etc. from creating a home / getting caught in side the chimney.

I hope this helps - good luck!

Items in the lower refrigerator compartment arefreezing

Hi, Sounds like the damper or damper belt may be at fault. The cold air enters the refer compartment through the damper in the back. If that damper is not controlled to close/open as needed it is likely stuck fully open all the time. That will let cold air in no matter what the t-stat says. See if you can view with a mirror and see if the damper "blinds" are fully open. If the t-stat is turned all the way down the dampers should close, as less cold air is needed. Then, as the t-stat is turned up, the dampers open to let in cold air from the freezer compartment.

Take care

I have a GE GSS25LGMF side x side refrigerator. The compressor never shuts off and everything in the fridge section is freezing. Is this a thermostat problem?

it could be the damper part number WR49X10091,if the damper door isn't closing correctly cold air will just keep coming into the fridge side from the freezer, usually the damper door opens to let the cold air in when the fridge starts warming up and when it gets cold enough the door will close but your damper is stuck open

Refer side freezes at normal temp settings

Depending on your model number ( which you did not give ) , you could have a bad damper . Usually this is the piece at the top left of the ref section . It could be frozen with frost , motor bad , or the control board , not telling it to close , when the correct temp is reached . On some models , only 2 screws hold this piece on , which when removed , you can visually check and check with a volt meter .
The circuit board can check the damper , by going into the diagnostic mode , and entering 1 0 . This will open the damper and then close the damper . with the damper removed , and the code entered , check the voltage with DC . Not ac . With the damper installed , getting the DC voltage , and damper does not move , initializing the 1 0 , then the damper needs replaced .

Frig mdl#pbb1951grq freezer works fine frig will not cool.

The damper is not opened and closed just by control movement alone. Your control connects to the damper by a notched plastic band. The damper also has a temperature sensor on it. To check damper operation set control to 4. Hold an ice cube to the temp sensor (a coil of small aluminum tubing) and the damper sholud close. As long as the fresh food comprtment is calling for cold air, the damper will remain open reguardless of control setting.
