If it's the lower looper thread breaking, the cure is to unthread the eye of the needle(s), rethread the lower looper, then rethread the needles. Sergers have very specific internal crossings that are easiest to do if the various parts are threaded in a particular order. Typically, you thread the upper looper, then lower looper, then the needles. If you try to deviate from that without knowing exactly what you're doing, it tends not to work well.

In general, most serger troubles, especially for beginners, trace to minor misthreadings. It's easier, in my opinion, to rethread the entire machine from scratch than look for the minor error that's catching you up. And you learn the threading pattern well as a special bonus. <g>
If it's not cureable by rethreading a couple of times from scratch, the next thing to do is put in new needles, right way around, and rethread again.

SOURCE: Singer Futura 350 bogus thread breaking error

I had the same problem for a LONG time. Yesterday I finally removed the top and the cover for the upper tension and found thread fragments under one of the discs. I removed it and used compressed air for dust clean out and it is working wonderfully. Good Luck

SOURCE: need to know how to thread up overlocker :-)

Here is a threading guide - http://www.singerco.com/pdf/14SH654_threading.pdf

Before you start, raise the thread antenna to it's highest position.

Open/set the tensions to zero.

Raise the presser foot.

Turn the handwheel until the loopers are at the highest position.

Singer 14T967dc serger runs but does not stitch

Hello Laura

Make sure that the lower looper thread is in front of and over the upper looper thread when threading the serger; when threading for overlocking.

Please let me know how this worked out for you
Happy serging

you'll have to contact singer customer service about this model about the threading, you probably have a tension problem also with the machine, and I would suggest changing the needle on the machine also.

Singer Overlocker/Sergers require particular threading order. If that does not help you may as I did have to take it to an Authorised repairer. It has to be a Singer Authorised as they have done training...

Sergers thread upper looper first, lower looper second, right needle third and left needle last in that order. If your thread breaks, CUT ALL THREADS and start from scratch or you will not get a good stitch or your machine may jam. It's probably just a "user error."
Good luck.

Singer overlocker

Most likely is the left looper thread is trapping the needle threads.

Remove the threads and start over in this sequence....

Left looper - right looper - left needle - right needle.

If you thread the needles before the lower looper, the needle thread wrapped over the looper will be under the looper thread and will never be free to form a stitch, so the threading sequence is critical.

Thread wont overlock

When the thread breaks too often, try these, that goes for all sewing machines
1. Replace the needles,
2. Loosen slightly the tension of the needle threads.
3. The top threads are to thin,
4.The sewing (rotary) hook or looper, has burs,
5. Wrong threading
