Question about Samsung Washing Machines
I select COLD water but it Washes in HOT. I see the steam I even open up the top & the water is HOT. My old machine (Kenmore HE top loader) worked perfect with the cold water. No problem at all. I had the tubes checked and they are brand new and working fine. So why won't this Samsung machine wash in COLD water only? Why am I getting HOT water?

Yeah you need to replace the water valve. To get to it you need to remove the cabinet on the newer direct drive models, If yours has a rear access panel then you simply pop the top to get to the valve after removing the hoses. Fairly simple job. Here is a good website for direct drive coupling replacement . It shows you how to open the cabinet. http://repair2000.com/coupling.html
GVI 151 is the generic part that fix all belt drive models. Direct drive will need its own little water valve buy hay it ain't but 20 bucks.
For a better explanation post you model number in the comment box and I will research it further for you amigo.

SOURCE: Cold water Washes
It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when
filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because
even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap
to break up efficiently.
During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.
Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

try and switch your hot and cold water hoses around the other way. it should start the cycle with hot and rinse cold.. If it still does it you may have to have it serviced..
