Re: cant remember the gmail address given to the G1...
Take it to the phone dealer. they should be able to access it using your sim info. if you enter the wrong information yourself too many times, it erases all the phone data!

Gmail password reset is the most common issue but with the issue, there is the solution of the problem also available. There are some steps to reset Gmail password through phone number
1)Go to Gmail Sign in Page. 2)Enter the email id and click on the forgotten password. 3)Now, enter the account recovery phone number given at the sign-up time. 4)A code will be sent to your phone number via text message. 5)There is the option to put the code and you have to type that code wherever asking. 6)Click on verify. 7)Now you can create a new password. 8)Click on continue. That can be a problem. I save passwords in the browser, locked behind a master password. Follow the Google search:
forgotten password for gmail account
and perhaps one of the options given will help you out.
my first question would be, do you have a facebook? because then you have an email, maybe one different from your gmail, and maybe your in your address book. Or maybe you can ask an aquaintance whom you've emailed with what your adress is? if you can find your gmail address, you'll be okay, because gmail has an option under the normal login for forgotten usernames and/ or passwords, but they require the email address I'm sorry:( if you don't use you old one, perhaps creating a new one might be the most beneficial?
Yours seems like an Android phone. For
Andorids with the Pattern lock (I assume that's what you meant by grid lock), if you try the wrong pattern 5 times,
you are given the option to use your Gmail Account to unlock and reset
your Android device unlock pattern.
Once you get the prompt for
the Gmail login, use the account that you have set up in your Android
device. This would take you to the option of resetting the unlock
pattern.
Please note that if you have set up the
2-step-verification for Google accounts, your password will not be the
regular Gmail password. You'll have to generate the authorizing password

Right now the G1 is having issues logging into the phone after you get locked out using a screen pattern. Just try to remember to write down the username and password you used the first time that way you won't lose the information on your phone by having to reset it. Also make sure you are typing it carefully and make sure to enter your whole gmail address too (Ex. [email protected]). Also if you have had to change your password from a computer after you logged into your G1, it does not take the password change. A way to avoid that is to login to the G1 again. Sync your contacts to gmail first (Settings > Data Synchronization > Menu > Sync Now). Then go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Google Apps > Clear Data. To sign in again go to Settings > Data Synchronization and it will give you the option to create an account or sign in.
This is just a glitch with the new update but once you input your gmail username and password it should not happen anymore. Good Luck.
PS. If you do not remember your username and password check out the links on how to reset the phone. It will help you reset the phone without loosing any of your information in most cases.
you need to factory reset your phone. this website shows you what to do without having to access anything on your phone - the first step is shutting it off. follow these steps and your phone will turn on, the only drawback is it will be like its new, and you'll have to re-download all the apps and stuff. it also has you sign up for gmail, and i suggest that you create a gmail address and write it down so it doesnt happen again :) http://androidcentral.com/factory-reset-tmobile-g1/
