When you remove the battery cover, the SIM card is in the middle of the phone, sticking out just in front of the battery. You just slide the SIM card out. If you don't see it when you remove the battery cover, you are missing it because the phone definitely uses one.
Take the battery and sim card out (if you have a sim). Leave them out
for awhile. Then put the battery and sim card back in your phone. See
if your phone turns on. If not, contact warranty exchange.
Try rigorously cleaning the sim card and phone connections (also battery connections - after reading forums the batteries on V3's are often to blame for their problems) with a cotton bud then leave the phone off without the sim card in it and charge it overnight. Then put in the sim card and turn the phone on. This might help. My V3 often says Insert SIM and it is very annoying so i'm getting rid of it but those methods have worked for me.
