SOURCE: pfaff 1222 and pfaff 1229

Have a certified repairman look at the power board in the machine. The power supply circuits are broken on the board itself. Can be repaired with wire and solder. How do I know? Just fixed my wifes 1229 that had the same problem.

P.S. New boards are NOT available from PFAFF or anyone else

SOURCE: when I turn on my PFAFF 1222 it wont sew

It may be in bobbin filling mode. Can you turn the inner circular on the hand crank. If you can click it into position, this should engage the needle mechanism.

SOURCE: loose stitching on underside of

It is in your top threading, believe it or not. Sounds odd but it is. Try this, insert a new needle (flat side facing the rear of machine), totally rethread according to your manual or go to www.sewusa.com for a free threading diagram, make sure that your presser foot is up, now when you are totally threaded, with the presser foot still up, pull on the top thread, it should feed smoothly, put the presser foot down and pull the thread again, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. If that doesn't do it, I am afraid that you may need a repair shop. Good luck.

My Pfaff 1222 will not sew; the needle moves up and down in the same hole. What does it need to fix this problem?

More than likely, the machine is seizing due to old oil that has dried out--probably affecting the movement of the feed dogs. As a mechanical machine, it needs frequent oiling and cleaning to keep it operating smoothly. Most older machines, like this, are set aside or abandoned for this very reason. If only their owners knew there is a very simple solution. They can be rejuvenated with some elbow grease, "good" sewing machine oil, and heat. Below is the method I've used to find a second life for several older machines:
Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...
Your machine may be purring again in no time!

FWIW--your machine is popular and well-worth spending a little time and money to make her hum again:

What [art do I need to fix a Pfaff 1222 where the needles is sewing in the same hole - failing to advance

Hi, It sounds like you may have dropped the feed dogs, like you would for darning or free motion quilting. Page 24 of the manual shows the control and I have included a link to the manual. http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/pfaff_1221_1222-manual-EN.pdf

Pfaff 1222 E Makes a whirring noise, wheel won't turn

How long has it been since it's had a thorough cleaning & oiling (including the internal moving parts)? Resist trying to run the machine if the only thing running is the motor. You could burn up the motor or possibly break a gear.

The following method has helped me rescue some frozen older Berninas (which your model seems to resemble). This method worked on all of them except one that also needed a cracked gear replaced.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

The thread from the spool breaks immediately. Does it need a particular kind?

Upper thread breaks
needle may be in backwards
Raise the needle bar to the highest point then loosen the clamp screw to remove the old needle, place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side to the back of the machine
Push the needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go, then tighten the needle clamp screw
upper tension may be to tight
the needle may be bent or damaged
thread may be hanging up in bobbin case--check area for loose threads or lint

Hello! My reliable 1222 has hit a snag. When try to sew, the top thread is not being picked up by the bobbin thread. How can I fix it? Pavla

try changing the needle
clean under the needle plate & in bobbin area for loose threads & lint
try rethreading the machine top & bobbin, make sure to get every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly in the bobbin case

Skipping stitches and sometime the thread breaks.

Sounds like a tension problem maybe. Too tight tension will bend, and break the needle, especially if sewing fast in free machine embroidery, in this mode, the tensions have to be looser anyway. I can't explain why the wheel flagged and stopped, but experiment with tensions first.

Needle cannot be secured in PFAFF 1222 sowing machine. threads stripped in grub screw socket

Well if you stripped it then there is no magic fix for it except to replace it. It's pretty hard finding the correct tap fixing the stripped threads.

Pfaff 1222 Bobbin holder stuck with thread

With power off, take the needle out and the presser foot. Remove the two flathead screws that secure the needle plate from the machine and remove the plate. You'll have a top view of the bobbin housing and see the thread that's stuck to it.
