easter egg hunt ,ended...
REDUX , we finally got SYMPTOMS:
cant post engine photos so i can ID what it really is. there... (below is for 6VD1 engine only)
YOU HAVE NO SPARK. (on all cylinders?)
many parts replace, and still no spark, i gather.
so , why not do 2 things.
are you sure its 3.2 and not 3.1 liter (apples and oranges different they are...)
if has a distributor as many have, that year 1992
the cap comes off.
and you watch the rotor, cranking, does it spin cranking,? y/n
no ,then the cam belt snapped
or if it does spin, i put it back aND CHECK FOR SPARK TIMING, (BUT YOU SAID THERE IS NO SPARK)
If there were spark on #1 spark wire, id check
timing next, oops, timing way retarded the cam belt slipped (you never do cam belt service ever?)
ok spark is gone on #1 and then i see others are dead too. what next. rotor TURNS.
i insert the diagnostic jumper next.
no scan tool works for this car in 1992, (otc)
sold over the counter so all we have is this.
in to the DLC connector
connect a jumper wire between data link connector terminals 1 and 3.
turn the key on.
see the CLUSTER CEL lamp flashes error codes
now crank for 5 seconds
release key , do not turn it off
let the PCM falsh out ERRORS.
12, 41,42,31,43, and more.
if there are 2 failures, it sends them one at at time. it takes patience here to see all errors.
it flashes 3 times for each error and moves to the next and then repeats.
Last, and important, if in fact this is a 6 HV lug coil pack there , tells you it's a wasted spark system (aka as very early DIS)
and no distributor."distributor less"
please know that testing spark on just one plug is not good.
do all 6 !
if say ONE spark wire is bad (open) that kills
2 cylinders, and it will not run on 4 cylinders
so do all 6 HV spark plugs, tests, at all 6.
if only one pair fail? then replace those 2 HV wires.
and retest or (open tool box , remove my 2 test wires and 2 new spark plug and use those? omg it sparks, so the cars HV wires are open. or if not working now,?(my wires test) then the coil pack on just one pair are bad.) yes they all fail...
see? testing just one wire on DIS SYSTEMS is mostly a wasted of time. (if one pair work then the crank sensor is ok)
Easter egg hunt.. where is crank sensors
if it was bad code 41 would flash this DTC
when cranked over.
