Re: my whirlpool fridge/freezer
Probally need to replace inlet vavle. first check to see if valve powers up when you hit lever to recieve water. you can hear valve humm if not then replace micro switch above the lever inside dispenser housing
GO to back of fridge and expose the water valve where the water goes in. Unplug the fridge and reverse the wires on the valve plug in and see if you can get water then. and watch for it coming out in the ice maker. If it does come out in the ice maker the water line is froze up or water valve is bad. If you leave it this way and let it set a couple of hours and you don't get any water out of the water dispencer you will have to reverse the water lines if possible and try it again. During one of these tests you will decide the valve is at fault or the water line is stopped up.Check for too cold of temp in the lower section of the fridge. Set the temp up a few degrees (3 -4) on the fridg. Especially if you have a sepperate control for the lower section

Set the temp up a few degrees (3 -4) on the fridg. Especially if you have a sepperate control for the lower section fresh veggies. This settign too low or air being open more than it should be (air direct from the freezer) will cause a freeze up. A defective seperate control or one out of calibration could also cause this, but it is usually the air damper not damping off the freezer air. Feel of the water resivor behind the crisper. See if it feels like it has Ice (VERRY COLD) in it. here is the trouble or the palce to start. Inspect the air comming into the lower section and try to get it to dampen off.
If the resivour is not cold as Ice:

If this helped you become confident on what the trouble could be, Please rate me as high as you can and thanks for using fixya.
