Question about HP ProCurve 2900 48G Switch (J9050A#ABA) Transceiver

Open Question

Kenwood TS 2000X: Low TX output on all HF bands ONLY. Symptoms include: No ALC metering. No SWR metering. No TX output power metering. Internal ATU beeps out high SWR in morse once AT button pressed - even under known working 50 ohm dummy load. Please note: THIS IS NOT CAUSED BY HIGH SWR IMPEDANCE MISMATCH!!! Monitoring receiver does reveal that TS 2000X is outputting RF but at an extremely low power. Setting the TS 2000X power level to max (100W) does give 2 bar graph indication on the power meter with only 3cm vertical deflection on x1 probe setting on oscilloscope at antenna connector under 50 ohm dummy load? Again, no ALC/SWR meter readings? PSU shows current drain of only 6.8A @ 13.8Vdc on all or any power setting (5W - 100W). Brand new finals, driver and pre-driver transistors installed - in an attempt to solve the problem - but transceiver still showing problem? All gate bias/drain supply of TX PA PCB measured correcly. But, oscilloscope measurements of the HF drive input at CN14 on power amplifier PCB very low in amplitude (Cannot measure anything in amplitude here)? Can anybody HELP - Many Thanks!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: HP ppp009 laptop power supply

The best way is to get one off ebay by part number. Take it apart and write them down. Then order the resistors and you will have 2. Then you can either sell the other one back or keep it. You cant lose if you have electronics skills.

I'm not sure about the size, but this may be what you are looking for:

Most power supplies are a standard size, but I'm not sure about your model of HP. The from the photos on the HP site, it looks like a standard mid-tower case and it should fit.

SOURCE: Had to use it over the weekend, had coffee maker,

Wow, your meter showed that you had 120v to each of your outlets as it was running? And when you would plug in one of your appliances, they wouldn't work? Mmm, something's not right here...:). Not sure if this problem has been resolved yet (just looking at the date), but I would start from scratch again. Turn everything off (breakers, etc). Start the generator again. Then turn your breakers on ONE at a time. Use your meter to check out each receptacle. Do this on EACH one. If everything checks out okay, then turn on ONE plug at a time again, check with meter again, and then use a low amperage appliance to plug in - and see if it works. Yes, it sounds tedious - but we're doing the process of elimination to really rule a lot out. Unfortunately, coffee maker's (because of their heating element) draw a majority of the load, so having this on the same circuit with other component's can affect things also. If you've repaired this already, great! If you had a minute, I'd be interested in hearing what the problem was. And if you haven't fixed it yet, feel free to contact me again - and I'll help you through with this. Best of Luck to you! - Jim

I have a KENWOOD TS-940SAT HF Transceiver that powers up with the TX indicator on, no power output and no receive.

Very little information about the situation of the transceiver is provided, it might be a complex one. The Kenwood TS-940SAT features a built-in automatic antenna tuner covers the amateur bands 160 through 10 meters. It is advisable for you to reinstall the transceiver and follow the right set up step to see if it works out eventually.

Very low TX output power on ALL HF BANDS ONLY. Other bands OK!

look for a broken or cracked board near the driver s & finals, try pushing around on the board with your plastic screwdriver, you may luck into it.

Low TX PWR/ATU won`t tune. No SWR and ALC metwr reading?

You've replaced the pre driver, the drivers and finals. Set bias and still low output. The pre driver is the same transistor used as the tx exciter transistor on other pcb chassis on bottom of radio. Follow the gray coaxial wire from the pre driver on the RF circuit board back to the tx/rx i.f. Circuit board. The gray coax cable plugs right next to the tx exciter transistor on this pcb. Again it's on a different pcb all together and on the bottom of the radio and also. Replace it! And check for open bias or emitter to ground chip resistor next to it. You will get your drive back. Very few rigs have I seen the actual Finals blown in the mosfet or the bipolar version. Just the driver stage with a week pre driver and the SMT "pre" pre driver on the same RF pcb. And the tx exciter on the other pcb.
