SOURCE: F7220-900 The brushes do not rotate, motor seems

Clean the lint filter first. Remove both tanks. Lay the cleaner down(unplugged from power of course) Below the brushes(directly behind them) to the right side as you're looking at the underside is the filter. Squeeze the filter frame, lift it and pull out. Wipe it clean and replace. Next clean the brushes. Take hold of the brush assembly and pull firmly. Clean under running water. On reassembly you may need to rotate the brushes slightly in order to refit the assembly.
Last, make sure the brush selector switch is "on"

How to get in to a dual v-124A.

They are not made to be repaired. You may have to JB weld some parts in there, after you snap off the plastic.
The replacement brushes are on Ebay, after you measure the size and style.

How do I get to the impeller on my Hoover steam vac dual v to get to the rotating brushes to fix their rotating

First, there is no impeller that turns the brush. It is controlled by a turbine assembly. There is the brush with the middle stem (know as the brush block) and the turbine turns the brushes.
Turbines cost $39.00
Brush Block Assembly cost $34.00

The usual reason for loss of suction is dirty filters that need replacing/cleaning.

My rotating brushes have stopped rotating

Almost certainly you have broken a drive belt. It is not a big deal though just turn it upside down and remove the base plate you should be able to access the belt from there. You should be able to get a belt pretty easy from an online retailer like vacuumspot

Brushes wont spin on the vax duel v 124 model and i dont know how to get to the belt to see if it has broken. There is no reset button on here that I can find !!

V124 /124a. Brushes not spinning. A clicking noise can sometimes be heard with this fault. It is likely that the brush drive unit has developed a fault. For the adventurous it is quite straightforward to repair. Ensure the machine is unplugged from the power supply and remove the tanks. Place the machine down on the floor and remove the brush bar. This clicks into place and is easy to lift out. Remove the screws on the base of the machine that hold the red cover in place. These are posidriv self tappers. Remove the clear plastic V assembly from the machine. This is clicked into place to make removal and replacement easy. Locate the turbine assembly and underneath the machine remove the screws that hold this in place. Disconnect the two small rubber hoses on the turbine assembly and gently pry out the turbine. The turbine can be opened up by removing the self tapping screws holding it together. Do this on a well lit bench or tabletop
Gently open up the turbine housing by lifting the black clips slightly. Keep the turbine level while you are doing this. Inside is the black plastic turbine blade. Remove the two gears and the small bearing and place to one side. Inspect the turbine blade for cracks or damage. If cracked the turbine blade can be repaired using a hot soldering iron to 'weld' the plastic. Ensure the repair is smoothed off by using a flat file. A tiny amount of light oil can be applied inside the turbine casing. Then reassemble the turbine blade, gears and bearing and clip the housing together. Replace screws in turbine housing. Refit turbine into the machine Replace machine screws, red cover. clear V assembly clicks back on. Test the machine to make sure that the brushes rotate. If the turbine is beyond repair a new one can be obtained as a spare part

Brushes not rotating on my Hoover Steam Vac Dual

The brushes are all connected to a single shaft. This square shaft is connected to 2 sets of gears and then another shaft which is turned by an impeller (suction from the vaccum pump is used to turn the impell and thus the brushes). There are 2 bearings that the impeller shaft turns on. It's likely these are rusted up and just need a bit of WD 40. Took me 30 min to take apart, lube, and put back together. Remember, its plastic. If things won't come apart, look for another screw. Mine was a brand new unit and the top bearing was rusted.
