These side load washers are a joke, and after working on my first one, seeing what a bad design they are. I would junk it and get a top load. but hey if it's still under warranty have it fixed. LOOK it might have a recall also ? search the model number.. I myself wouldn't spend a dime on one of the stinky, smelly pos's good luck.

it has a spindle on the back of the drum thts hooked to the spider assembly ther are 2 big bearings on this assembly that are not the easiest to remove and might have corrosion issues making them near impossible to replace all you can do is try. locate the parts list breakdown for this model and search for parts prices, when you get the unit apart you will find blocks of concrete, removing these make it much easier work on . and it will cost more than a hundred bucks to have a guy fix it, but you might do it yourself , for under a 100 maybe 40 if you lucky.

you must be careful with bleach, it can cause major damage to seals in the washer, what it does is damage the rubber seals in the washer allowing water to get into the bearings. so if it is a belt dive , take off the belt and HAND TURN EACH pully, the one that feels crunchy is the problem. common problems arre too much chorien and leaving water with chemicals set in the unit. every once and awhile run BACKING SODA in a short load (smal) load to keep it fresh.

if it is a belt drive, take the belt off and fell the bearing by spinning the pully's, this will help you locate the problem

That sounds like a clutch problem - probably just worn and need replacement. Will definitely need to pull to find exact fault.

SOURCE: The washing machine started making a grinding

sounds like a bearing... although it could be the water pump... water pump is an easy fix... bearing is not an easy fix... take the belt off the bottom of the pump (under the machine) and see if it spins freely by turning it w/ your hand... or if it seems really stiff... if it looks good then it's def. your bearing...

Have a proforma toploader and is making a grinding noise in both wash and spin cycle. it is still draining and doing everything just making the noise.

We have a proforma toploader washing machine and when using the machine in makes a very loud grinding noise during the spin and wash cycle. On occassion it also does not spin the clothing out properly, however the machine is still usable.

While washing it makes a horrible "grinding?" noise and after draining the clothes are still wet and it will not spin. the horrible noise is on during all cycles. will not spin. HELP, please!!

Sound very much like something (coin etc) is stuck in the pump, have had a look online to see if I can find a diagram to check if there is a customer access filter for you to check. Unfortunately, I can't find one so if you have your owners manual see if there is any info. This will also be the answer to the spin problem as most w/m will not spin until all water has been expelled. Hope this helps.

Maytag washer makes loud grinding noise during the spin cycle

if it's making a noise then either your drain pump bearing is going out or your thrust bearing is going out (assuming the noise happens in both spin and wash). Tip the washer backwards so that you can get underneath of it. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley on the right side. This should spin effortlessly.

The middle pulley is the trustbearing pulley. Spin this--- one direction it should have a little bit of resistance--- the other should have more resistance

Makes horrible noise during spin cycle only

The bearings have most likely gone bad. This is a very common problem with the front load washer when powder soap is used.

Whirlpool Duet Sport not running it makes clicks and it grinds

A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth.=======
It's noisy Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
