SOURCE: my vacuum kenmore canister smells

My guess would be a slightly loose belt - tight enough to spin the roller on a hard floor, but loose enough to slip (then get hot and stink) when the roller is having to work against the pile of a carpet. Worth buying and fitting a new belt without pausing to investigate further, simply because they're so cheap and you'll have to replace it sooner or later anyway. A.

SOURCE: No suction on Hoover Wind Tunnel.

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

First this is a common problem on ALL bagless vacuum cleaners. Usually it takes longer then 1 day however.

Is there no suction in the suction hose, or is it not suctioning from the floor?

Most people buy a bagless vacuum once, then return to a bagged one after their bad experience, you are not alone!

Please give me the model number to your Hoover, (found on the bottom or the back of the vacuum on a foil label).

Thanks,

Chris Jones

Reset button on hoover wind tunnel

Hi there! There is no reset button on the cleaner. The vacuum has a thermal protector sensor that will shut the vacuum off when the motor reaches a certain temperature. This is usually caused by a clog or filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. Be sure to check the hoses for clogs and clean and replace any filters if needed. The vacuum will turn back on when it cools off, this can take up to an hour. Good luck!

Why is my hoover windtunnel vacuum cleaner shutting off?

Hi there! Sounds like the thermal protector is being activated. This is usually caused by a clog or a filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. Follow the steps below to prevent the unit from shutting off.

1. Remove the hose completely.
2. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear hose of clogs.
3. Remove the bottom plate and brush-roll.
4. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to break up and remove any clogs from lower hose.
5. Check the primary filter behind the side grille. If it is dirty you may rinse it under running water and allow 24 hours to air dry outside the vacuum.
6. Remove the bag door. Clean the primary filter located on the vacuum under the bag. Rinse with water and allow 24 hours to air dry outside the vacuum. The primary and secondary filters should be replaced at least once a year.
7. Check that the bag is not full. If it is, replace the bag.

The vacuum will turn back on when it cools off. This can take up to an hour. Hope this was helpful!

Sorry, you feel like that. I have rentals and 6 windtunnel's (I prefer the bagged ones) and have never had a problem such as you have described. I think Hoover makes a great vacuum.

I have a hoover bagless windtunnel tseries paws. I recently cleaned all the filters & put back together & when I did I thought the red would turn to green like it was reset so wouldnt be showing...

The dirty finder light is a microphone, located in the elbow (where hose secures to machine). The problem is either the contacts on the microphone need to be cleaned (use wire brush) or the switch is full of dust (remove small circuit board from the front (where the light is), with a razor blade carefully pop the cover off the switch box and remove the dust.

Vacuum cleaner smell
Posted by lcw1 on Apr 20, 2008
Our Hoover Windtunnel has recently started emitting a bad odor when we use it. We recently bought a new house, and the previous owners had dogs, but the carpet was professionally cleaned before we moved in. I have replaced all of the filters and belts to no avail. At this point, I have to remove and rinse off all of the filters after every time I use the vacuum to prevent stinking up the entire house. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Hoover U6616-900 Windtunnel Bagless Upright
I think you are right, if it is not the switch then it would be the motor. Does it smell bad like a burning smell? If so it is definitely the motor and then @ that point you may want to get an estimate for motor replacement, and keep in mind of what you spent on the vacuum versus what the cost of repair might be. My own rule of thumb is if it cost more than ½ of the price I paid for it then you have to decide – do I want to pay the repaired cost for the vacuum or do I want to purchase a new one. Just a suggestion... You may want to check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Self-Propelled WindTunnel by Hoover U6445906

· Sometimes grabs the carpet for no reason.
· Comes back too fast when I push it back.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Self-Propelled WindTunnel by Hoover U6445906 Without knowing the brand name or model number you may have the height adjustment to low and the vacuum will say “bite down” on the carpet of which will make the belt burn and might leave marks on the carpet – and if you have a self-propelled vacuum it does come back fast if you because you have a transmission just like a car and you have to control the speed of the vacuum or because it may have a weak belt the vacuum will pull back easier – I really would like to know the brand name and model number so that I could accurately give a better answer . Recommended belt change for flat belt(s) are 4 to 6 months for better cleaning and one a year for a geared belt – both can stretch and lose their cleaning function

Hoover windtunnel

would suggest the drive belt is stretched and thus is slipping when contact is made with the carpet.

Embedded Dirt Finder green light won't come back on - stays red

The dirt sensor is a motion detector. After it gets dirty it will either stay red or stay green. You can have the vacuum serviced at your local vac shop and possibly get this fixed. Sometimes they are as good as new and sometimes they are not repairable. It will not effect anything else though.
