Question about Panasonic TH-42PX60U Television

1 Answer

No power, no blinking lights for my panasonic th-42px60u TV. I bought my TV new about 7 years ago. I have had no problems with it until today. I was watching a program I heard the click I normally would when it is shut off, and off it went. Attempting to turn it back on offers no blinking lights. I have checked the outlet etc. and it is definitely something with the TV itself. Also, it was plugged into a surge protector and that did not trip. I do not know if this is useful, but I have heard that clicking noise for about two years at random times when the TV is off. Sometimes, it had been off for a day or more. It does not turn on, but I just hear that clicking. This has occurred with the TV both at my old house and also at my new house so it is not a power surge of any type that was causing the random noise. What can it be?

The power supply inside the tv, is what it sounds like to me. I fixed a 50 plasma about a year ago that all it needed was a 20 cent capacitor. but you might find the power supply for yours on ebay for kit 20 bucks or a used board about 50. this is not a for-sure fix, but if you can fix it saves you about $300+ just be careful when working on it you dont crack the screen.
the one I fixed was a first generation plasma flat screen tv and it price was about 10 grand. I love it it still works good and has a nice picture.I have the most expensive TV on the block ! it likes it's power though 500 watts .
So in summery, the two things I have found over the years in my "look what I found honey" tv projects is that the power supply has failed or the screen light driver needs to be replaced. in the last 30 years I have only purchased 2 new TV's and fixed and gave away to friends about a 100. and that was before I had internet and parts had to be hunted down by catalogs and phone,
SO go ahead and try fixing it, if you cant fix it Give it to your local TV repair shop for parts, he might help you out in the future if you need parts, to fix another stray you bring home ?

Thank, Jay. I think you are right. I removed two fuses and had them tested and they were blown. I bought replacements at a tv repair store and put them in the set. I now get the click-power sound. But, I get the ten blinks of the power light. it seems likely that it is the power board. I am determined to fix it my self. Do you recommend I buy the entire board or buy the repair kit? If the board, can I trust a used or rebuilt board? thanks!

Hi Friends! I have a Panasonic TH-L32C20R. When

Something worth trying that worked for me and costs nothing is; remove all leads except the power lead. Hold the on/off button on the TV in until the light stops flashing, release button and and press again. If it fires up your good to go if not your nearly finished disconnecting everything ready to send off for repair! Good luck, BTW the number of flashes indicate a fault code that you can look up online.

Tcp42x1 wont power on, red light blinks 7 time

hello, one thing that is good is that these panasonics have a safety fualt feature the light blinks and the number of blinks indicate what board is affected. the best way to find out what to exchange is by aquiring a service manual for your brand and model tv then review the service manual it will tell you according the the blinks what to replace or what board is bad..hope this helps..

I have the same problem Panasonic Plasma TV wont come.

Alot of times capacitors on the power supply circuit board will go bad. They will bulge/dome or dry up which will cause this problem. Bad caps dont hold a charge, which is needed to maintain a voltage. The circuit board is two sided which makes replacing the caps difficult, and the board can be damaged and have to be replaced. Taking it to a repair shop may be cheeper and safer then doing it yourself. Having two-six caps replaced is a lot cheeper then a new board.

Panasonic TH-42PX60U plasma TV: red blinking light

are you using a PC to feed a signal or maybe a cable with an adapter?
I had the same issue when I used one of the rear HDMI ports to show a PC display. Apparently there is a software difference between the rear and side/front ports. Inputting the PC through the side HDMI port has solved the problem for me (so far!)

TH-42PX60U red light blinks 10 times wont come on

On a Panasonic TV the 10-blink error code can sometimes be caused by low voltage running through an HDMI cable, particularly from a Media PC or some video game consoles. Try disconnecting any HDMI cables and unplugging the Television for 30 seconds, then power it on without the cables attached.

If this works, connect the cables to the front panel (usually HDMI-3) which uses a different controller board.

I had a similar problem where my TH-42PX60 would turn on but all controls were disabled. I could not change channel, input, volume or anything other than turning the TV on and off. I called customer support and they directed me to this site: to download a firmware update onto an SD Card. I inserted the SD card into the slot in my TV and powered it on. The update took about 3 minutes and I haven't had a problem since.
This is a link to the instructions to install the update:
