Question about Computers & Internet
Macbook Pro won't detect my Allen&Heath Xone:4D mixer as a viable output solution under sound settings even though I got the correct drivers for my OSX installed. The cable and USB ports have been checked on other devices and work properly and so does the mixer. Any ideas why this incompatibility seems to happen?
The drivers may just need to be uninstalled /reinstalled.
i have had the same problem with various hardware on macs.
they dont work, then inexplicably they do! you could try an older driver.
maybe a reinstall on OSX? Its possible it has become corrupted

No sound? The only solution I've found is to get a USB headset like the Logitech USB Headset 20. I have had this same problem with my Tecra 9100 for almost 6 months. I tried on a pair of USB Headset and it works! because it bypasses your internal soundcard. The downside is that if you have a great pair of speakers on your laptop, then it's kind of a waste that you can never use it. But at least, with this, you can now listen to CDs and chat on the internet

SOURCE: no midi out device is detected
If you dont have a joystick port on the card, then you dont have a midi out. make sure your "out" or"playback" is patched to your card's synthesis engine, wavetable or GM/GS midi playback, and not to a "midi out" which really means a physical midi port.

**** THIS IS THE SOLUTION ****
On the back of the UA25 there's a switch called "Advance" - this needs to be set to ON for the device to work as a MIDI interface.

unfortunately any pro tools application below version 7.4.2 is not compatible with leopard and I don't think you can use mbox 1 with the universal mac I may be wrong but I wanna say I tried a while back and even garageband wouldn't find it anymore but you can check for sure by going to the applications folder then open the utilities folder in there is an application called "Audio Midi Setup" and you can select the mbox in there if you see it but if not there is no patch or driver that I know of to get it working unless you upgrade pro tools which if you do upgrade I suggest getting mbox 2 and getting LE with it
