Black and white image when connected with video cables not HDMI

I have the same problem but with Blu Ray only, and not all Blu Ray. Let me explain. Using the same set up as the OP, I can play DVDs fine, no problem there. When I play a Blu Ray (or try to) I get a greyscale picture. This is true for all of my Blu Rays with one exception. My 'Being Human'Blu ray discs goes to greyscale during the legal notices but when the top menu comes on it's in colour as are the special and main features. Bizarre. I thought that it might simply be the connectors or that the Being Human was on a different type of disc, but I checked and they're all the same.

This player is my bedroom player and we haven't upgraded the tv in the bedroom yet, so it's still an old CRT (hence using video and not HDMI). I brought the player downstairs today and hooked it up via HDMI and there was no problem. Is my only recourse to buy a new TV for the bedroom?

Try set your old tv to auto color system first, or set it to different color system untill you get the color. If this can't solve your problem then you need to buy new TV with multi color system.

I have red, yellow& white come out my dvd and only white & red plug in on the back of my tv how do i make that work and which source and channel i put the tv on

Red and White are audio, yellow is video. On the back of the TV there should be a yellow jack if it takes external inputs. There are two ways to connect your Blu-ray Player to your amplifier. Via HDMI output: Connect the player's HDMI OUTPUT to the corresponding INPUT on your amplifier using an HDMI cable. If your amplifier has an HDMI OUTPUT, connect that to the HDMI INPUT on your TV using an HDMI cable. See if these links help.

#dhb300b DVD player plays only black and white my TV is a JVC HD TV with HDMI cable from driver TV box hook up DVD to TV audivo to audivo video to video set TV to component program DVD to TV but plats

The yellow/red/white cables are COMPOSITE cables. COMPONENT cables are RED/BLUE/GREEN. You can buy those at any electronics store. Your best bet, though, is to stick with HDMI if you can.

Can't get any sound when playing discs through a blu ray player connected via a hdmi cable and DVI adapter.

The DVI adapter stops the audio. Use the audio out ports on the bluray player to connect an audio pair cable to the tv.

No audio

You have to have the cable with three colors, yellow is video, white is one side stereo and red is other side. Plug into av on back of tv then select the av

Try to set your video output settings on your dvd player . I assume you used to connect to your old tv by using svideo and now you are using another connection like component, scart or hdmi.If the video output setttings on your dvd are still on svideo you will have to set it to rgb or component or else you will get black and white images..
