SOURCE: Self propel feature broke on Hoover Tempo Widepath

Sounds like the tie has loosened the belt off. You may have to check under neath the sole plate by removing screws and having a look. If the belt is broken it will have to be replaced. If its not broken check that it hasn't moved within the gear assembly of the self propel mechanism. Fit everything back together and it should work after that.

SOURCE: My Hoover upright vacuum runs but isn't picking up

I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF THE UPRIGHT HOOVER WINDTUNNEL VACUUM CLEANER NOT PICKING UP FROM THE FLOOR, BUT PICKING UP FROM THE HAND-HELD MECHANISM!!!  I  IF YOU HAVE CHECKED FOR BLOCKAGE, ETC., AND FOUND THAT NOT TO BE THE PROBLEM, THEN CHECK THE ACCORDION HOSE.  THE ACCORDION HOSE IS ATTACHED ON THE UPRIGHT, FROM THE HAND-HELD HOSE TO THE BRUSH MECHANISM ON THE BOTTOM.  IT PROBABLY HAS COME LOOSE.  MINE DID.  YOU HAVE TO TIGHTEN THAT ACCORDION HOSE FROM BOTH ENDS.  TAKE NOTE:  THE ACCORDION HOSE TIGHTENS COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, NOT CLOCKWISE, AS WE ARE USUALLY TAUGHT!!!  IT TOOK MY HUSBAND HOURS TO FIND THIS SOLUTION, AND FRANKLY, SHAME ON HOOVER FOR THIS DESIGNED OBSOLESCENCE!!!  HOOVER WANTS YOU TO BUY THEIR OVER-PRICED WARRANTY FOR THREE YEARS, WHICH COSTS THE PRICE OF THE VACUUM ITSELF, AND THEN AFTER THE THREE YEARS IS UP, THAT IS WHEN YOUR VACUUM IS DESIGNED TO GO KAPUT.  MY ADVICE:  NEVER BUY HOOVER AGAIN UNLESS IT IS THE ONE FROM THE 50'S.  THAT ONE NEVER DIES!  I HOPE THIS HELPS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!

SOURCE: foot latch is broken. need to replace with new

it is accessed from the bottom underneath by the rear wheel. However, If there are and cracks on the pedal release socket area then the base will need replacement. parts are little cost but the unit needs to be completely disassembled.

SOURCE: How do you replace Hoover Handle Release Pedal on

The handle pedal is snapped in to the base, where it pivots.
The pedal needs to be pried away fron the base, exposing the pivot pin to release it for removal. On your model, you will likelly have to remove the lower handle from the base (where it pivots) to get room to release and replace the pedal.

The vac has stopped any suction

Hi Dan,

The DC25's brushbar will only rotate when you have the machine reclined into the vacuuming position, and will not rotate when the machine is standing upright. This is part of the machine's design, and is nothing to worry about.

If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, this may be due to a blockage - the easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please get in touch with us directly so we can run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Not picking up after recovery is installed correctly. I've been using one about 10 years.

:) been there :)
1st make sure you have the dial set to release water/cleaner LOL

the only other thing i know that stops mine from sucking up the cleaner/water from carpet is if the small little filter trap is clogged - just clean it out and it works again :) (hopefully it will work for you too!)

I have the Quick Steamer Plus 160 Series/2070 Powerbrush. It will not release cleaning solution and will not pick up solution that had already been dispensed. Is this something simple I can fix???

I checked the bottom of the fresh water supply container and all was well there then I used a pin in the tiny air valve on the container. Turned the machine on, pulled the lever to release water and held it for several minutes and finally the water started to release and the machine works fine now.

Too much play in upright part of my Hoover upright wind tunnel

No. The handle release pedal is snapped into the bottom base assembly. Look underneath to check for cracks or damage in this area. this is the most likely issue. If it is, then the base will need to be repalced.

Bissell 3595 handle release pedal spring(?) missing

I just fixed this on my Bissell PowerForce model #6594 vacuum myself. Woo Hoo for me. :-)

I called the local vacuum repair guy and he told me he'd repair it for me if I insisted but that since my machine only cost about $80 (a lot of money for me) it would not be worth the $40-$50 repair. I should just buy a new vacuum (from him I assume).

My machine works great so I sat down on the floor and after removing 5 screws and a little tinkering I got my machine apart. I had to take the brush and belt area off and then the upright part came off the base. Make sure you unplug your unit before working on it.

Next I could see where the Handle Release Pedal (HRP) on the bottom of the unit had been cracked. It's a molded piece that has a slight curve in it that allows it to spring back into position to hold the vacuum in the upright position or to keep the vacuum from going totally flat.

How it was installed I don't think they meant for it to be easily replaced but after using a screw driver on one side and a letter opener on the skinnier side I pried the molded houseing out from around the HRP just enough to let the it release. I did need a third hand for that part.

Release button

There is no button. You are supposed to place your foot on the area above the rolling brush and hold the base down while pulling the handle back.
There is a small metal clip under the vacuum that you should bend out a bit to make it easier to release. Unplug and flip the vacuum over. It is right in the middle between the back wheels. Use a pair of pliers. Don't bend it too far or it won't stay up when you want it to!

Hope this helps!

Be sure when you put the dirtant dust container in place that it is in properly. I have had this and believe it or not this container has enough room to fit without it seating properly. Take the dust container out and reseat it making sure the bottom is secure and then turn the lock lever in place. Try it again. What happens is you get an air gap which allows some air to flow but the vacum does not function properly.
