Air cooled? water cooled? inside a room? any genset needs ample air flow and venting,(rad and emissions exhausting away from unit)

if its water cooled and you have ample air-flow, replace thermostat.

Honda gx160 petrol generator, gets very hot on the muffler, then starts to backfire and flames come out of the exhaust on the muffler

You need to get the exhaust away from the generator (heat shield) because it is getting to hot and this will cause it to backfire

Stator got hot on my generator

Stators can get hot, but not too hot? how much are you talking. This is indicative of a short in the output wires, and / or overloading with inductive loads. Compressors, motors, fans etc

Gnerator not producing ac power

I recently had a similar problem during "Sandy". I forgot to turn off the hot tub before starting the generator and the house lightswhere barely lit, dim, and flickering under the load. I quickly shut itoff andthe hot tub, but not before frying half of my generator. It will only produce 110now, not the 220 usual adn I need to get it fixed. I imaging you may be experienceing the same thing if you can't reset it. My generator has two reset buttons right next to the outlets on the unit itself.

The engine runs fine and the generator produces electricity but shortly after start up the generator head gets hot and starts to smoke. What could be the problem or solution? thanks jeff Joyce

If you really mean the "generator head", which I understand as the outer bearing cover of the generator, your problem may be a bad contact or worn out brush-ring assembly, or a bearing problem (not very much believable).

Generator wirring

The generator output hooks to the transfer switch. It senses the power from gen or land power and switches accordingly to allow power into the breaker panel.
