MY Sansa Express, says USB malfunctioned, when connecting to PC


I bought a Sandisk express MP3 player from US 20 days ago. It was working pretty perfect.

Yesterday, when I loaded songs from a system, I was able to paste all the data, but suddenly the player switched off and I am not able to even switch the player on, despite having charged it for 8 hours.

Also, when I connect it to the PC, it says USB malfunctioned and device not recognised. I tried in several computers and I am getting this same message.

Please assist me.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out:
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the "MTP Device" by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

When the Sansa Express keeps freezing you can RESET the device using next step:
The device can be either on or off, player NOT connected to the computer:
Press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Select buttons simultaneously for approximately 20 seconds.

When the "rebuilding database" message keeps coming back, the player will need an update.
Use the Sansa Firmware Updater (works on Windows only) or go for the matching download on the forum:
The Sansa Firmware Updater will contain the driver for the computer to perform a firmware update on your player [ METHOD 1 ].
When downloading the driver package manually, first put the driver "StMp3Rec.sys" in the correct folder on your computer. Next start the SansaExpressUpdater [ METHOD 2 ].
During this update, connection between player and the computer is based on MTP mode, Media Transfer Protocol: Drivers and software are needed to get access to the player.

My Sansa Sandisk express flash drive mp3 player wont come on

firstly you should only remove a usb device "correctly" otherwise problems can occur with device ,pc or both.....when usb device connected there is a small icon on taskbar with a green arrow on renove device right click this icon and choose apprpriate device to STOP....there is a reset button that you can press to reset settings...look for a 1mm hole and put a pin into it and push...goos luck

just re plug it and see what happens or.. if you have wall mount charger with a usb connect .. then us it ... and if all fails... open ur player and disconnect the batter for a minute and reconnect it and then put it to recharge...
let me know what happnes..
