Question about Sony Handycam DCR-PC110E Mini DV Digital Camcorder

2 Answers

I own a Sony DCR-PC110E camcorder, and I have about 7.5 hours of SP recorded home movies on 8 tapes, I cannot transfer these to my PC as it's Windows 8, and does not have an link port. So I am going to send these tapes to a company that specialises in transfering old DV and VCR tapes to DVD or HDD. My question is how much space will this 7.5 hours of SP recordings take up? I am considering sending a 64GB flash drive with the tapes, is it big enough?

One DVD disc is about 1.5 hours. You have five times this amount of data, so that is 5 discs. One DVD disc will store 4.2 GB of data. You do the math.

SOURCE: Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

SOURCE: I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV720 Digital-8

This model has iLink: IEEE 1394 firewire port. If you don't have a firewire card, you can probably find one pretty cheap on the internet (try ebay).
Windows has movie maker, which when the camera is connected, will allow you to capture the video from the camera on the comptuer, although there is no DVD burner software at least on the XP version (not sure about Vista). I use Nero for the whole process: capture, edit, burn to DVD.

Hi sir. I thing i need drivers to my ccd-trv 108 e handycam to get my video int my pc. I have windows 7. And i want driver to my dcr-hc23 to.....is that posebul you can help me. ...

your sony ccd-trv 108 will transfer videos(stream) to a computer using firewire connection. install the supplied software or use any program compatible for streaming like windows movie maker. use a firewire cable. check your computer for a firewire port(port with IEEE symbol) make sure that the tape is totally rewounded then press the record button on windows movie maker as the same time as you play the video from the camcorder. (its basically playing the entire video in order for windows movie maker to record it.

If your PC has DV link port, connect camera via DV link and transfer movie files in computer.
Other way is to hook camera with DVD recorder and burn DVD.
Thanks.
