Nec

Do you have the user manual? You can download it from NEC if you desire. You might check to see if you can get the menu (proceed button on the remote). If you can't get the menu you might be looking at a PNP - means the monitor is bad and you might be looking for a new TV. If you can get the menu you might try resetting the options to the factory default. As well, check you connections for the various inputs - HD/DVD, VIDEO1, etc.
Get to know that menu - it will solve all kinds of NEC issues.

try manually turning the vollume up on the telly itself if this dont solve the problem try pressing the av button on the controll in case that has changed as sometimes this will stop the sound make sure the controll is working but other than that their should be no reason why you get no sound unless its something inside the telly that has gone wrong if this doesnt solve your problem take it to repair shop and they should tell you for free what is wrong with it hope this is some help
