Printing problem On printer display ! light is flashing and the words - Unable to Init - see trouble shooting and routine maintenance chapter in User's guide. I hope you are able to help me with this problem Thank you

So what did it say in the
trouble shooting and routine maintenance chapter in your user's guide?

for non fax models ie I have DCP 165C you say press ...... press up arrow four times then press 8 then 0 etc ... but I have no numbers to press!

Just checked a site - they suggest that you clear the purge counter, maybe this will help

Hi there. . . okay . . . Follow this step
1.) Unplug your printer.
2.) Plug your printer again while holding the menu button 15 sec.
3.) select 8 by using the arrow buttons ,push OK and select 0 and push OK
4.) then numbers appear looks like this ###:### ###:###.
5.) now push the MONO button until the purge:#### appears on the LCD
6.) Select 2, push ok, select 7,push ok,select 8,push ok, select 3,push ok

7.) - switch off the printer ,switch it on

This error message is sometimes due to foreign material under the printhead path or underneath where the printhead stops or parks.

Unplug the unit. Open the cover. Use a flashlight if necessary and carefully inspect the area underneath the printhead path. If the printhead is stopped or parked, gently move it enough to look at the area underneath. Common items are little bits of paper, staples, paperclips, push pins etc. Remove any foreign material.

Close cover. Plug in the machine.

press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow-up button (tel.index) quick after another.

machine will be in maintenance mode and lights will flash.

press start bk copy in case machine wont directly display the error code.

Error starting with 4 means defective print head.
Error starting with 5 menas defective purge station or cycle problems.

both error series means: you need a new printer...
