Type "help" and hit enter. CMD will give you all the commands and a description of what they do. What you need to do to fix the issue depends on what is missing.

And going from Vista to 8 should be a clean install anyway to avoid....well this.

Turned hibernation on in error .how do i turn it off again


You can turn it off under power management in control pannel. To avoid this issue in the future try this:

Cant find my mac address


Assuming this is a Microsoft Windows system...

Click on Start

Then either Run (Windows XP)

Or just type into the dialogue box above the Start button (Windows 7)

Type in: CMD and press Enter

In the black window next to the >

Type in ipconfig /all and press Enter

In the output look for the Physical Address in the 12 character alpha-numeric format of:

xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx

This is the MAC address

to separate shortcuts place a mouse tick at the end of the first shortcut and press ENTER this will move it down to the next level and the command is called DOS disk operating system there are to many commands to list

If by DOS you mean CMD, then use the HELP command. Most of the available commands that you can use will appear. Other commands are used by external programs.

How to use command prompt


Dear,
For Windows environment path is Start>Run
Now type cmd in text box and press enter. you are in command prompt. For command related type help and press enter. It will list all the inetrnal commands.
