Brine tank fills but doesn't draw it back into the water sosftener

Your injector is stuck. Your manual should show you, at the least,
a diagram; you'll need to clean out the center of the injector and lubricate the seals or o rings with silicone grease. You cannot use Vaseline; it'll attack the rubber. You should bail out the excess water from your salt tank. After you've got rid of the particle of dirt from the venturi in the injector and lubricated the seals or o rings with silicone lubricant, reassemble. Three manual regenerations over the next three days should bring your softener back to full function.

Tip

Slow wipers

Try lubricating the linkages as these become quite stiff and slow or stop motor.

Under the bonnet there should be a cover over the scuttle between the engine compartment and the windscreen.

Remove the plastic cover, usually fixed by a rubber seal that seals the engine compartment against the bonnet.

Lubricate and clean the joints on the linkages with silicon spay. As the linkages move freely finish up with a grease spray to provide continuing lubrication. Copper grease spray is probably best.

Reassemble cover.

Probably best to repeat after a few weeks and/or if the wipers slow to ensure that there is continuing lubrication

DOORS DONT CLOSE TIGHT HEAR ROAD NOISE

While it is not common for a vehicle of that age, it is possible the rubber seals around the doors are aged enough to allow small amounts of air and noise to enter. If you can see physically the door isn't closed fully, check the closing points for lubrication as in 10 yrs the lubrication can collect rain, dust, silt, etc causing it not to function as it once did. Often times you may need to use a silicon spray to help remove the old lubrication and apply fresh. Silicon spray by itself will not provide proper lubrication for long. A local auto parts store should be able to recommend something for this. I most often use marine bearing grease as it stands up better to moisture.

The "O" ring seems to be leaking

Most softener heads are tightened to a minimum of 20 ft. lbs. to seal and not leak. If yours leaks after you tighten it (a quick sharp clock-wise twist will do fine) you should see your brand's local dealer and buy a new tank O ring. This must be lubricated with silicone grease. Petroleum based lubricants will degrade rubber. If you are looking for a new dealer or a more knowledgeable dealer visit wqa.org and find your local Certified Water Specialist.

Need to lubricate an o-ring

Silicone lubricant is far ahead as the recommended stuff, but OK.... Vaseline is out as it is petroleum based, although yours is not a critical application. So try lanolin, hand cream, KY jelly or similar, soap, wax or spit.

No. Silicone is not approved for O2 use. Can ignite under high O2
concentration/pressure. If approved for O2 use, the MDSS or labeling on the package will indicate so.
