Each model in the Maytag's Epic automatic clothes washer series has a computerized processing unit that displays error codes on a digital screen when something goes wrong with the washer. These codes help Maytag service technicians diagnose the unit. If you know the codes, you can troubleshoot the problem yourself, rather than request a service call, possibly fixing the issue yourself and saving you some money in the process.
Long Fill (LF) or Drain Problem (F9E1) Error Code 1.Press the power button to cancel the cycle.
2.Unplug the washer or disconnect power to the outlet its using.
3.Turn the power back on and select the cycle you wanted and press start.
Washer Problem (F--E--) Error Code 1.Press power to end the cycle.
2.Open the door to check for excess water in the drum.
3.Press "RINSE DRAIN & SPIN" if there is still water in the drum to remove that excess water.

Suds Routine (SD) Error Code 1.Open the drum at the end of the wash cycle.
2.Remove the clothes from washer, carefully examining them for damage from the excess suds issues.
3.Review your detergent uses to ensure that you're using the recommended type of detergent and the correct amount as stated on the product's instructions.

F01 means the main control board or "micro computer" has detected an internal short. Unfortunately, the only way to correct this issue is to replace the control board itself. It's under the top panel in the front right corner.

The following list of codes indicates an electronics communication problem with the washer: * Epic® washer - F05, F07, F09, F10, F11, F13, F14, F15, F21, F22, and FdU
* Epic ZTM washer - F01, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, and F33


To remove the error display, press Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel twice.



If Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel does not work:

1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.

NOTE: If the error remains on the display, call for service.

f1 is a bad control board,you can try unplugging the dryer for like 5 minutes and then plug it back in,sometimes that will reset the board but most likely you'll have to replace the board.

The F-01 is an inducation of a EEPROM error and
most likely means the control board has failed.
It needs to be replaced.

my epic will start & wash & then gets F 20 & won't drain until I hit start again

I dont know how to fix it but if you hit OFF then start it restarts, i get the same message it will appare over and over again untill the load is done.

the control board has loose solder connections around the relays.

being it is in warranty its too early for you to fix it yourself.
you will have to wait for them to come out and say the parts are on backorder.
