Question about Iomega 34610 320 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive

1 Answer

My USB flash drive is not recognizable in any computer. It shows up in device manager as unknown device. But in "My Computer" the drive does not show up at all. There is no light that is blinking o

It has also showed up as "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)" even though it is. I've tried every port on all the computers I own.

The USB drive light does not go on nor does it blink. I have all the updates on my computer updated. In Device Manager, where the yellow ! is, I've uninstalled and then scanned for new hardware.

I've taken the battery out of my computer and waited an hour, then put it back in and turned it on. Most of the time the code is Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I have over 2 months of work and files and would like to recover them. Would a data recovery program even work if the drive isn't accessible on the computer?

Download the driver from Verbatims web site. Reinstall it some of thos flash drives are really picky. You might have had a virus and it wrecked the connection. Reinstall the driver from Verbatim.

USB port is not recognized in any of my computers or in any port.

It seems that the issue is related with the flash drive itself, I have came across with such problems many times. I guess now it's time you should go and ask for a replacement. Most of the flash drives comes with 5 years warranty. You may want to call verbatim customer support for warranty. Contact details

What can i do? my jetFlash V85 is unknown

Connect your flash drive to your computer using an available USB port.

If your flash drive is not recognized, you'll usually receive an error that says "USB Device Not Recognized."

Click "Start" > "Control Panel" and open the system configuration by double clicking the "System" icon.

Navigate to the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager.

Click the "+" next to "Disk Drives" and locate your USB flash drive.

A question mark icon should be shown to the left of the label.

Right-click the device name and select "Uninstall."

Open the "Action" menu at the top of the Device Manager and select "Scan for hardware changes."

This will scan your PC for any new devices.

Because you uninstalled the flash drive, it will be detected as a new device and the drivers will be reinstalled.

Click "Start" > "My Computer" and look for your flash drive.

If this process was successful, your flash drive should now show up under My Computer as a storage disk.

If its listed as an unknown device

Then right click on your flash drive select rename

Hope this helps

Computer is not detecting the drive?

right click on "My Computer/Computer" then go to Manage then go to Disk management check to see if the drive shows there if so right click on it and navigate the tabs until you see Assign a drive letter select a letter that is not in use, i usually use p-v because its use is rare. If it does not show in Disk manager check device manager and see if its under Usb/Unknown/Drives/removable storage/ or other devices if its not there then your device may be damaged or your port may not be installed properly/damaged

Usb device not recognize

You mentioned that you uninstalled the unknown device from the Device manager. If you uninstall it then connected your usb flash drive you will see an error again on your device manager. This means that the driver for your usb port is not properly installed.

To install it, visit dell website, look for the model of your machine and locate the driver, download it then install from your machine.

Do you have anything like a printer or scanner or an external USB drive connected to the computer. If yes, then remove it. If not let me know.

My external hard drive is unreadable

Does you drive make any sounds like these? If yes you have a mechanical problem and you should get a specialist to work on it. If not - try to remove the drive from USB casing and connect it directly to your PC or put into another USB enclosure. This should help if the problem is with the enclosure itself and not with the drive.
