Question about Dell V515w Multifunction Printer
I can't fax, print, scan, copy or print on my DELL V515w printer anymore. The power light is on & steady green, so I know it is getting power. It usually goes into hibernation if printer is not being used, but power light blinks when it does that & when it wakes up, when it has material to be printed, it usually turns solid green. Well it is solid green & nothing on printer works. No error messages show up on computer, so I do know that recognizes the printer. I was printing earlier with it just fine. This stuff always happens to me, & I just bought new ink cartridges yesterday, go figure. I did call DELL Tech support, & they said printer is shot, have to buy a new one. I only used it lightly for 4 years. I was looking at new printers yesterday when I was at Staples buying ink cartridges. Do you think this printer knows? LOL!! Printer has worked flawlessly for me in the past, with no signs of crapping out.

The short answer is that most likely the printer driver on the computer is bad. You need to delete the printer but not the drivers. Next, you will need to re-install the printer by having your computer find the printer like the 1st time you initially attached the printer when it was new. Usually this takes care of any communication issues between the pc and the printer. Don't forget to do a test page afterwards!

Well, first off ,it's dell's fault, not yours. Even Official Dell cartridges are temperamental at best. The cartridge error you are explaining is common with Dells. They even have what's called a marriage issue, meaning the cartridge will work in only one single printer. However, I'm not sure how to fix it. Sometimes, you can install a new one and the other cartridge you never touched gives you fits, and goofs up. I'd say get a new printer. Dell is increasingly getting more stingy with their ink, and truth be told, I don't think their quality (*lexmark makes dell, so stay away from them too) matches HP or canon. If you want the best cost per page, get a canon that has individual ink cartridges. They are easy to refill, and print a great picture. You pay more $$ up front, but you'll save a ton in the long run

If the light is flashing, it might not be the PHD, but you might be having a problem with the PDL emulation. Just go the control panel, right click the Dell printer. Select printer properties, not properties. Go to the advanced tab and check print directly to printer instead of spool print documents. This should work.
