Re: data not copy other hardisk

Maybe your secondary hard drive is write protected due to third party software during the old installation of the system such as norton data recovery.

Hope this will be helpful to you.

Repair broken

Easy, just hook up old drive as secondary and new drive as primary. Copy what you need from the secondary onto the primary. When you are done, just disconnect the secondary drive and enjoy your new one.

Hardisk tidak bisa terdeteksi oleh BIOS apa penyebabnya dan solusinya untuk memperbaiki ?

Hardisk tidak terdeteksi bisa di sebabkan oleh :
- Bad sektor
- Hardisk sudah lemah
- Cabel data rapuh/rusak

My Western Digital Model WD3200D032-000 has had the +/- tip reversed when I bought a new transformer. It now seem quite dead even when I plug in a correct + to tip transformer. Is this a terminal problem....

No, suicide's not necessary yet. The drive itself is almost certainly fine, but you've cooked the little circuit board inside the drive case with the interface electronics. It's possible to open the case and remove the drive. Then the drive can be installed into a new external case or installed into the computer as a secondary drive.

The WD case is not particularly easy to open. There are snap tabs that are hard to get to from outside, but it can be done. If you're not worried about reusing the case the job's a little easier. There are some how-to pictures and videos on the Web.

May I recommend backing up irreplaceable pictures and other data onto DVD or CD in the future? There's always the chance a hard drive can fail electrically or mechanically (even under normal conditions). It's dangerous to trust your only copy of data to one, so a backup is a good plan.

Thanks for using Fixya! If this has helped you, please take a moment to give a thoughtful rating.

My external hardisk is making sounds and is not reading data

Sure its a bad sector..
You will need to do the backup of your files and replace it with a new one.

If you need third party software for recovery let me know.
Or if you can get a chance to recover some files via Start>run>cdm mode to copy some files.

Or else if you need further assistance , you are most welcome.

My hardisk 1tb only shows 500gb space, just bough it yessterday and i have installed it in port 0 and an other hardisk off 500 gb was installed on port 1 and when i go into my computer i only see both...

If you're using the original XP version it wasn't able to format the correct size of the hard drives. You need to find a version with Service Pack 2 and boot off that CD in order to format the correct size of the drives. You could also boot off a Vista installation CD and format the correct size.

I am replacing my hard disc on a Fujitsu Siemens T4215 / windows XP Pro SP3. the replacement disc is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4. Could you give me a procedure on what to do: 1. Before the replacement 2....

hi md-consult,

from your request I presume you never have done any hardware replacement before...this may take awhile and I guess you will help if you give me more data:

First of all:

- if you want to replace your operating disk by the new one( you will have to back-up and copy all the data on it, and set up windows anew and reinstall all the programs in the end)

think about keeping the old one and adding some extra data storage space to your system (easier, plus there should be some IDE-connectors still free...)

please come back with more details on the windows version u are using in case you are not sure..

thought about it?

I'll give you advice on the second from the hardware side only, I leave data back-up to you, as this depends on the windows version you are using (win2000 has an easy to use back-up wizard, it allows you to back up your whole system(data, programs and drivers) in one big file on an external data storage medium like thumb drive or DVD, win xp and above lack that, you need extra back-up program....)

if confused already, please come back with info on which version if windows you are using, to guide you through this for win2000....

for the hardware side:

- boot up, enter BIOS by pressing Del, F1 or F2, see list of IDE drives,
write down order of appearance and come back with that info to me on fixya..!
-now pull power cord, dissassemble tower, find out if your power supply has more than 250 Watts of capacity
(you will need at least that much to support all the two ahrddisks plus drives plus mainboard, upgrade to 350Watts or more, a new supply!, if necessary)
- see how the actual harddisk is wired up( follows grey data cables, see if upper end leads to optic drive.

Now do come back to giving info on :

your decision
windows version
list of drives(as seen in bios)

C U soon?

You cannot recover bad sectors. Your disc is damaged and the drive has removed the bad sectors from being writable. You need to replace your hard drive asap before it breaks entirely. You're going to lose all your remaining data on the disc if you do not back it up immediately. Good luck, Peter
