I have a funlock 004D/004, the lower looped broke and I replaced it with one I ordered online. It makes a chain when I run it but when I try to sew fabric nothing catches. Any suggestions?

you have to make sure the looper is properly positioned. With the screw loosened slightly you should be able to move the looper up and down slightly, thus adjusting the timing. You are looking for the lower looper tip to come in slightly above the needle eyes, as close as possible without touching. Then the upper looper must come in right behind the lower looper "head" as close as possible without touching. The upper looper should then extend past the left needle by about 2-2.5mm, and the needles will come down before the eye of the upper looper returns to the right.

Stitches are not locking at all and all that happened was needle broke

are you saying after you replaced it this happened? I think you don't have the needle low enough. Just undo the needle screw and lower the needle a "tad"

Thread broke on bottom looper the first time out of box i had to try and thread and the tension was still tight The bottom threads were not stiching

I'm going to assume here you're talking about a serger. Unthread the lower looper and the eyes of the needle. Set the lower looper tension to 0. Rethread the lower looper, then the needle eyes. Then reset the lower looper tension (try about half a number lower) and see if it chains. If it won't chain, try replacing the needles.

How to set timing and bobbin in my juki ddl-555

hi there
when you need to set timing please first make sure height of needle bar is ok. there's two mark at needle bar, the upper one is for height of needle bar: bring the needle bar at lowest position and in this case the upper mark must be equal with lower needle bar bushing.
second : set timing
move hand machine pulley at the same rotation and when the lower mark equal with lower needle bar pushing the tip of hook must be at the center of needle groove and just light touch not hit. that's all

Timing on a Huskylock 535D surger

the eyes of the needles must line up with lower looper as they pass (timing) the distance between the needle and the looper must be exact. No distance between them and not touching. yep, that tight. they shouldnt move the needle even the slightest amount as they pass each other, yet no space between them.

Sounds like the timing is a little out.

If you remove the needle plate and turn the handwheel manually watch for the lower looper as it swings behind the Left needle....the needles ought to rise by only about 2mm before the looper passes......the looper must pass the needle above the eye to catch the thread, and be so close as to be barely touching the rear of the needles......if the left needle thread is not picked up, it may be the timing, or the distance between needle and looper.

For the uninitiated, there are a myriad of variables in correctly timing an overlocker (serger), and without the manual to refer to the correct parameters, you will rapidly descend down a road of despair....if you move a looper to advance or ****** the timing, you risk looper collision and a broken looper is almost as much as a service, so my advice is do the test to see if the timing is the likely culprit, and if so, take the opportunity to give the old girl a treat.

If you need to save for a while to do it, just use the 3 thread option for the time being.

Lower loop broke- do I have to start from step one?

yes, take all threads out, and re=thread according to the diagram, following the threading order.
