Question about Refrigerators

Frigidaire compact refrigerator

I have a frigidaire compact refrigerator model FRTCO3B5GM that is about 4 years old and not used too often. (It's in my office). Recently everything in the refrigerator started freezing even though it is on the lowest setting: 1. I completely defrosted the freezer and refrigerator but it happened again. There is a small covered "coil" in the upper right hand portion of the refrigerator. Could this be a thermostat? I have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: Freezer section not freezing

If you only had ice buildup in one section of the evaporator you have a weak/inefficient compressor.
You need a new compressor or a new refrigerator.

SOURCE: bad defrost timer/ thermostat???

It definitely sounds like you have a bad defrost timer, that is the reason the coils are icing up on you. The next issue, which may or may not be related is the freezing of items in the refrigerator. Usually the cold air is transferred, through a vent with a damper, from the freezer and into the refrigerated section. The "thermostat" for this section is actually usually just a lever to adjust the position of the damper. That being said, usually when you have a problem such as you are having, it is either a stuck or broken damper (or damper component). Hope this helps

SOURCE: Frigidaire side by side model # FRS20ZRGW3 coils freeze up on freezer side, fridge side gets warm

You have a defrost timer behind the front kick plate turn it clockwise slowly until compressor and fans stop. Once this happens the timer should remain off for 30 minutes and the defrost heater should come on during the first 15 minutes. If after 30 minutes the defrost timer part=> 215846602 Defrost Timer Assembly should come out of defrost and the compressor and fans should restart, if not advance the timer clockwise until they start and replace timer. Try that first and tell me what your results are. If that is not the problem then we can narrow this down to the defrost heater=> 218657301 Defrost Heater or 5303917954 Defrost Thermostat How to test the defrost heater is found on same page as the defrost heater. If you have any questions I will be here to help you, Thanks Sea Breeze

Won't stop running. This says I have to end with a ?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRC05L5DW1, is freezing the inside as well as running constantly. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at the circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. When power is restored, if you are still having the same issues, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

We have a 4 year old frigidaire side by side refrigerator, model phs69ejss0, it has stopped cooling fridge and freezer and there is a 4 flashing in refrigerator temp display area, any idea how to fix?

The Flashing #4 occurs when power is applied to the fridge and the control board goes through it's cycles and didn't detect a damper connection.
So its your air damper that's bad.

Here is the part to order.

I have a Frigidaire ElictriSaver fridge, Model #SE1081A,approx 30+years old.For the past 20 years it has been turned on but used as a back-up only.VERY seldom opened.Recently it quickly leaked quite a lot...

If this unit is 30+ years old it is probably not worth looking into, simply because the gas/freon used is no longer available, and parts would be very difficult to obtain or would be very expensive.

The compressor recently went out on a 4 year old fridge, model frs26lf8cwi, and was replaced under warrenty. Still under warenty but has quit cooling again

Hi,

Although the possibility that the new compressor just died likewise, it is more probable that there was a leak and the refrigerant has just evaporated. The leak could have originated in the new joints of the tubing from the new compressor to the old system. No refrigerant would result to no cooling even if the compressor is running. Sounds like another service call to the same group of repair persons who did the initial repair.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
