Question about Kenmore 93702 Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

Water keeps draining

I have a Kenmore stackable washer/dryer and the washer will drain slightly while water fills so every 20 seconds or so of washing it will refill water again.

Re: water keeps draining

You may be experiencing what is known as "siphoning".  If you have your drain hose shoved too far down in the drain standpipe, or if you have the top of the standpipe opening sealed off, sometimes it creates a vacuum and will cause the washer to drain constantly drain.  You need an air gap in order to prevent this.  Double check your drain hoses for the following:

1. Make sure the hose is only placed in the standpipe about 3 to 4 inches.  If it is sitting so far down in the pipe that it is resting in the trap where all the water is it will siphon.

2. Check the opening around the top of the standpipe where the hose rests.  Makes sure there is still an air gap around the hose.  That is, make sure the hose isn't seated so tight that it seals off the standpipe completely.  This will cause siphoning.

3. Make sure you haven't placed anything around the standpipe opening.  Many people will wrap old towels or wash cloths around the opening in order to prevent overflows and odors coming back up through the pipe.  In doing so, they often inadvertently seal off the standpipe and cause a siphoning problem.

Last of all, the standpipe should be about 36 inches from the floor.  If your drain line is sitting too low it can also cause siphoning issues.

I know I'm keying in on this drain line issue quite a bit here.  There are some other things that can cause water levels in a washer to drop, but you mentioned nothing about any leaks and this is the most common problem.  You will know for sure if you pull the drain hose out of the standpipe and suddenly hear a sucking noise.  This is air being reintroduced through the drain line.  I hope you find this information helpful.

Water drains out the back left corner when the tub is filling. Water will not stay in drum. What could be the problem. Its a stackable Kenmore.

Could be the over flow sensor tube thats attached to the side of the drum has come off or one of the drain hoses. Take the front panel off by unscrewing the 2 screws at the bottom and pushing down on the panel to unlock. From there you should be able to see with a flashlight where the water is coming from.

Water under stackable washer dryer

The front panel comes off and you will be able to trace the water source. These combo units spin immediatly and if the drain is slow the water will spin up over the edge of the tub during drain.

Our kenmore stackable washing machine on the rinse and wash cycle is not filling up with water. the water keeps running out

Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down the drain pipe. It could cause a siphon effect and drain the tub.

Make sure the drain hose is not tight in the drain pipe. It should fit loose so as not to trap the air which can also cause a siphon effect.

Stackable kenmore model 41794702300

We have had that happen too. You will need to take out what ever has blocked the valve on the drain. Ours was a bobby pin! My model is a bit different but if you follow the drain hose underneath you can find it. Remember you are dealing with lots of water. I think I scooped out the water first and have some towels ready. Or hire somebody to do it for you. I hope that helps.
