Place a few handfuls of rice into a plastic bag and then place the wrapped camera in the bag with rice. The newspaper wrapping avoids direct contact of rice with your camera because the dust from the rice can get into the small areas of the camera. The newspaper and rice will absorb moisture. Leave it there (with the bag open) at least 24 hrs.

Shredder is jammed

hello. follow these steps:

  1. Turn the shredder off at the wall and unplug it. You DO NOT want to be poking round in those sharp blades and have it accidentally switch on!
  2. Take the top off the shredder and place it on a big piece of newspaper, or somewhere you can easily sweep up mess.
  3. Begin by getting a pair of tweezers and taking pieces of paper from one end of the shredding blades. This will loosen it up and give you more room to get the rest out.
  4. Carry on tugging the strips of paper out. It helps if you don't just pull a clump, but wiggle it from side to side. This will get the whole strip out, not just the top.
  5. If any pieces are curled round and you can't free them, cut them with the knife and then tug them out.
  6. Once it's mostly cleared, put the top back on and switch the shredder on. Put it on Reverse mode so it will spit the last bits back up for you to remove.
  7. If it's clear, continue shredding!

[edit] Tips
  • Remember to wiggle the paper, not just pull.
  • Shake it occasionally to get smaller pieces of paper out of the blades.
  • Try not to jam it in the first place (avoid loading a lot of paper or thick sheets of newspaper).
  • Use oil paper or performance oil to lubricate the blades on a regular basis. For an office shredder, medium to heavy usage can require lubrication as often as every three days.
  • To prevent the shredder blades from dulling, remove paper clips and staples before shredding. Shredding CDs and DVDs also cause premature wear & tear. Use the Disc Eraser (www.DiscEraser.com) if you have sensitive discs.

[edit] Warnings
  • Always turn the shredder off at the wall and unplug it! You don't want shredded fingers!
  • Be careful with the blades - they are sharp and you could cut yourself.

[edit] Things You'll Need
  • A pair of tweezers
  • A small, sharp knife

What is the proper way to store an empty chest (deep) freezer for several months?

I would suggest wadding up about enough newspapers , to completely cover the bottom of the freezer . The ink in the newspaper , will absorb any odor that is in the freezer or can get in , while being stored . This is also , the only way known in the area , to remove fish , or bad meat odor . Takes a little more newspaper for that though .

I have not used my printer for ages it is working but not printing i have tried shaking the ink cartlidges but it has not worked

Hi there,

After long periods of non-use, ink can dryin the jets and jam them up. The clean printhead utilities that come with the printer may not work when this happens.

A couple tricks:Try pulling the cartridges and cleaning the print surface with a q-tip and alcohol. Then set it on a paper towel or newspaper for 30-40 seconds to draw the ink out. Replace them in the printer and re-try.

If this fails, heat some water up in a bowl (you don't mind getting ink on). Dip the cartridges in for a few seconds, then dry with newspaper/paper towel.. Replace in the printer and try to print.

Let me know how it goes, OK?

Front Paper Jam

I'm not 100% sure that this will work. I have a 3N, when we first got it I had the same problem. After clearing the jam - You have to open the top portion of the printer. Even if the jam is no where around that area... the printer won't reset itself until you lift that top piece. I even tried to turn it off, thinking it would reset...it didn't.

I know the 4g is much newer then mine...but being it's the same company.. this problem might be fixed the same way.

Good Luck.

Not Coffee just Hot Water

runner, sounds like you've got a jam up! Remove all the coffee you can If you can, try to remove the burr and clean whatever you find out. Now, turn the unit upside down over the sink to remove everything messy. Then, turn the unit upside down over a newspaper and tap the unit a couple of times to dislodge what may be jamming it. Put it all back and you may be okay. Otherwise, you'll have to dig deeper into the unit to remove the coffee bean 'stuff' that is jamming it. You may even be able to flush it out with warm water. Be sure to air dry everything before reloading with coffee.
