Your carbs bowl float is sticking allowing the gas to continue to flow when the engine is not running. And if you say it is ruining into the engine..check the oil for the presence of gas..if so change the oil,oil filter and remove the plugs and cover the tips to stop spark..turn the engine over to blow gas from the cylinders using a rag to catch the fluid...now to the fix..either take the carb apart and clean all the parts but there is no way to know if this will happen again..this has happened to my Husky. The best and easy fix is to install a inline fuel shutoff valve..where you can get at it easily...Just shut it off and let the engine use up the carb fuel..and when you start it again turn on the shut off valve let it set until the carb gets full about ten seconds..then start the engine...just got to rmember to do this every time you shut it down...works well for me...good luck.

1992 FXRS Dyna Glide. Gas leaking from overflow valve off the carburetor. Help please!

If it is a continuous flow the vacuum operated shut off valve is likely defective and not shutting off the flow from the tank when it should when there is not vacuum to keep it open BUT also the needle and seat are likely not cutting off the flow of fule into the float bowl as the float is not closing off the needle and seat assembly due to float or float setting problems and or a defective needle and seat.

I have a 14.5 HP Intek OHV model 287707 that started blowing gray smoke out of the exhaust after running a couple minutes, then it dies but starts right up again. Also, the oil smells like gas. No...

Yes it is a carburetor problem. The float and needle are stuck open and it is flooding fuel into the crankcase. That is why your oil smells like gas and you have gray smoke. I will bet that it is hard to determine the exact oil level on the dipstick.

First, do not run the engine until corrected or you risk engine damage. The fuel in the oil acts like a thinner destroying the lubrication properties of the oil.

Second, take the carburetor off and clean/rebuild it. When you are satisfied with the carburetor, including the operation of the float and needle, reinstall.

Third, change the oil, for the reason stated in the first.

Fourth, with fuel in tank, note level to make sure not changing by draining through the carburetor.

Fifth, remove the spark plug and turn the engine over a few times to get oil back to the surfaces that need lubricated on startup. Reinstall spark plug

Sixth, check fuel tank level for drop, if no drop, Try starting the engine.

I hope this helps you get it going.

6 HP Tecumseh Engine won't stay running

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

The switch you are talking about is an anti-after-run solenoid. It shuts off the fuel flow when you turn off the key switch.
To check its operation is easy, turn the key on and off a couple of times and listen for a click, if you don't hear it, hold the switch between your thumb and forefinger to see if you can "feel" it click on and off.If you neither hear or feel the switch working, you will need to use a test light or meter to check to make sure it is getting voltage to it to make it operate.
If you just recently filled up the tank, it is possible that you have gotten some contamination (dirt or moisture) that has gotten to the carburetor. You will need to remove the float bowl to check this. You will need a very thin 1/2" wrench to remove the solenoid (electrical device) from the bottom of the carburetor to get the bowl off after you unplug the wires from it. Use some sort of small tray or cut off the bottom of an oil container or whatever to catch what is in the bowl to inspect it for contamination.
If you have a plastic in-line fuel filter look at it at its lowest point to see if there is any water in it. Water will look like a seperate bubble within the gas and floating at the bottom of the gas. Before removing the float bowl you might want to rig up something to plug or pinch the fuel line to stop the gas from flowing out of the tank while you are working on it

Murray riding mower 12.5 hp briggs & stratton spitting oil & gas out of carb & muffler when trying to start

Drain oil... it is full of gasoline due to a bad float pin and rubber gromet in your carb. When your float pin and gromet fail, gas just keeps flowing into your carburetor, eventually flooding your motor with gas and oil mix.
