The cartridge that came with the printer will not dispense ink

Clean first the catridge printhead with an alcohol.
Then try to print after cleaning.
if still not working, then you go back again to the printhead and clean it again,if still there is a stain left on printhead after many times you clean it, then that stain causes of clogged on your very tiny hole of printhead, then all you ganna do is to replace your printhead so you can use it again

My printer is not printing red. It is all new ink cartridges, all in correct position and lit up. How do I fix this

The problem you describe is the result of a clogged printhead. The ink may be new/fine, but the printhead is clogged and won't allow the mixing colors (magenta and yellow are mixed for red) for the red to come thru. Here is a video of a similar Canon model, where it shows how to clean the printhead. Hope this helps.

It won't print in black. We have tried 3 differant cartridges. At times it prints a shasding of the image. All the other colors work fine.

Use the HP Printing Assistant software to run a few "print-head-cleaning-cycles".
The BLACK ink-jets are CLOGGED. So, no ink from any of the 3 different cartridges reaches the paper.

Cyan ink will not print changed inks and still wont print epson sx515w

This sounds like the printhead is clogged with dried ink. To remedy this, you will have to remove the ink cartridges, remove the printhead. Put some warm-hot (not boiling) distilled water in a cereal dish, put the printhead in the dish with the printhead slots in the water. Let soak for a couple of hours and repeat the process. Blot (don't rub) the water off the printhead and set it aside to air dry (you can accelerate this by using a hair dryer on the warm setting). One the printhead is dry, reinsert it and the ink cartridges. This should clear the clogged nozzles.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Follow up of clogged printhead

DO use the 1:10 mix and try the powerpurge.

Mix 1ml printhead cleaning solution (search internet) with 10ml of dye ink.

DONT USE ALCOHOL or any other kind of chemical solution except the printhead cleaning solution.

If you wont have success after doing it twice the ph is clogged and cant be fixed anymore!

The printheads construction is like a sandwich: In front of the nozzels is a filter to clean the ink before pressing it through the nozzels onto the paper. That is the main reason why some ink chanels will clog. You cant open the printhead to clean the filter.

Drop some ink into normal water and watch the flow:

dye ink will mix with water (like dropping a paintbrush with watercolors into the cleaning glass) while pigmented ink wont do so:

(translate german by help of google)

The 1:10 mix wont affect the quality though ink always consists of 98-99% of water! It prevents the ink from drying out.

The bk part of the printhead has another stand-alone construction and doesnt need any "support" by help of additives.
