SOURCE: Bobbin Case

I'm having a similar problem today. I took out the bobbin case and when I went to put it back in, the whole system locks up. I've tired cleaning, changing needle taking the metal plate and piece that holds bobbin case out and put it all back in after cleaning. Nothing. My symptom is I can't get a complete stitch, the needle goes down, the whole deal acts like it will work and as soon as the arm of the bobbin case gets to 8 o' clock on the gears, It jams and won't hardly move. I cannot pull the bobbin case out easily after this. Perhaps there is someone out there that can help us!

I have a much older model of singer 9410 sewing machine. The feeder is frozen and as I was troubleshooting I took out the bobbin case and cannot get it back in!

First make sure that the bobbin case locking lever is fully back, away from the bobbin case area. This lever is on the left side and to the back of the bobbin area. The bobbin case needs to be put in so the forked end of the bobbin case slides under the feed (towards the needle and the center of the feed dogs). Next slide the front edge of the bobbin case under the position plate. Then turn the lever towards you to lock the bobbin case in place. Make sure that the bobbin case can still move slightly. If it's tight, move the lever again and reset the bobbin case.

For pictures of replacing the bobbin case, see page 39 of the manual. Singer has PDFs of most of their manuals on their support page: https://www.singer.com/support . The current support page for the 9410 is https://www.singer.com/search/support?title=9410 . The current link to the manual is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_7029_7033__7035_and_9410_Sewing_Machine.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Singer 4623. Trying to add thread to the bobbin, but the bobbin will not catch the thread. I have followed the instructions and it still will not work. What should I do?

There is a piece of thread tangled in the top of your bobbin. Remove it again and look inside of it. The thread will be in between the 2 layers of metal.

Bobbin won't fall out of bobbin case for me to put thread on it. Singer tradition machine

Are you lifting the lever on the bobbin case to release the bobbin?

If the bobbin is that tight in the bobbin case, it is possible the wrong bobbin has been used. Singer has several bobbins that are very similar in size and appear to be interchangeable but are not.

Why does my thread keep bunching up?

That is called "thread nesting," and several things can cause it. The upper thread enters the bobbin area during sewing, catches the bobbin thread, and as the needle goes up, pulls the stitch tight. Something is catching the upper thread as it goes around. The most common reasons are the bobbin or bobbin case (or both) is improperly inserted; the bobbin is warped (roll it down a flat surface--if it wobbles, it's warped), either the case or the bobbin is not seated evenly, there is a rough spot on the bobbin case that is catching the thread, or your bobbin is loosely/badly wound. You need to rule out the possibilities step by step until you find the cause. First, review your threading procedures from start to finish, using your user's manual. Then, without fabric, turn the hand wheel by hand (ALWAYS towards you) to see if you can see it start to catch. The top thread should rotate smoothly in the bobbin area. You should be able to pin-point the cause that way.

if the bobbin and bobbin case are inserted correctly then

Singer 4562 t bobbin case won't fit properly, what am I doing wro

Make sure the bobbin case sets sort of on top and not under the ridge of the metal ring. There is a small latch on the upper left of the bobbin case. It is metal. rotate the latch to cover the bobbin case and this should stabilize the case without making it immobile

Singer 9410 Bobbin

Update:  Today I took my machine in to get serviced - they replaced the metal bobbin I was using with a plastic one, that was a little less rattley inside the bobbin case, replaced the needle with a new, universal one, and changed out the thread with something a little higher quality.  They also adjusted the spring holding the bobbin case slightly, and now it seems to work fine.  I'm not sure how long it will last, but for now I'm good.
