That actually should make magazine quality color.

I will gladly work with you to revolve your problem, I just need a frame of reference to start.
Let me know.
You may simply need to download and install a different driver.
They are on you should be running the PS version of a driver for better graphics.

SOURCE: printing/ghosting ink randomly?

ghosting and Horizontal streaks are usually the toner cartridge or the drum; vertical steaks are usually the thermostat or the fuser. Before you spend a lot of money on a new fuser...If you are getting horizontal streaks or ghosting and changing the toner cartridge out fixes the issue temporarily, I suspect you just have people taking the blank pages that print out after printing and feeding them back through the printer to save paper.

The old paper picks up a charge when fed through the first time, pulls toner up the second like a magnet, and deposits the toner onto the toner drum. When the next sheet comes through, the image itself or a black line of toner can be pulled from the last sheet (or the sheet before) and is transferred over the new image. Change your toner and print several pages to the printer, see if the problem fades and goes away.

If it does, just tell people to either stop feeding the blank pages through, or to at least turn them over and put them at the bottom of the paper stack. This will give it time to dissipate the charge before feeding back through.

Xerox Phaser 7400, lines on solid colours

Are the streaks evident when printing actual images? I was told by an experienced Xerox service tech that those solid-fill test pages can be misleading -- mine does the same but prints photos beautifully. I suggest printing some full page photos, check for the streaks. You've already done just about all you can.

Xerox phaser 7400DN jabs at fuser

The printer trays accommodate most sizes and types of paper, transparencies, or other
specialty media. Follow these guidelines when loading paper and media in the trays:
- Envelopes, labels, and glossy paper can be printed from Tray 1 (MPT) only.
- Transparencies and custom size paper can be printed from Tray 1 (MPT) and Tray 2.
- Fan paper, transparencies, and labels prior to loading them in the tray.
- Use only paper envelopes. All envelopes should be printed single-sided only. Some
wrinkling and embossing may occur when printing envelopes.
- Do not overload the paper trays.
- Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size.
- If excessive jams occur, use paper or other media from a new package.

Not getting enough heat for phaser 7400

If you mean the toner is not fully melting on the pages that you print. Then make sure you are selectin the corect paper type you are printing on. If you are printing on some kind of thick paper select heavy wieght or card stock. The fuser heats to different temps for the type of paper used. thiner paper dosen't need to be heated a much as thicker paper. Check your settings.

Is it a ghost of the image or just a repeating defect? In the menu, there is a repeating defect information page that you can print out. Depending on the spacing of the defect, you can determine which component it is.

YOu will need to replace the cover. There is a small tab or a magnet that actuates a switch. If its a tab type cover, the tab snapped off, if a magnetic cover the magnet has fallen off.

It looks like it's ghosting - shadows

Most likely the fuser needs replaced. The heat roller is worn and causing reprint.
