It should be about 180 degrees. The percolator should perc about one minute for each cup of coffee. If it stops too soon and the water is not hot, then the thermostat is bad. The thermostat can be replaced.

SOURCE: How do I make coffee in a Farberware 'superfast'

Hi 2 scoops of coffee to 3 cups. Then work it from there, to get it to your taste. It is done when it stops perking. When that happens the keepwarm element takes over until you unplug it. Good luck. Ron

Farberware millenium coffee percolator does not heat

There is a thermostat in the bottom of the percolator that is broken. It would normally cut in to perc the coffee and then cut off the percolator heating element after the water reaches a certain temperature. It can be replaced but it takes a little skill. There is a video on eBay.

If you want to bypass the thermostat and just unplug the percolator, time it for 1 minute per cup.

Maui outlets for Farberware percolator do not carry filters? Why?

I think it is because water goes through the coffee while it goes around and through the pipe inside the percolator Let the coffee stand for a few minutes when it is through, then .the coffee will be fine.
enjoy your coffee

When I try to check continuity across the two thermostat leads I get none. Shouldn't I get a circut when it is cold and when hot there should be none?

We have a Farberware Percolator / "Superfast" #FCP412-A...This morning we plugged it in and nothing happened...I took the base off and found one of the connectors loose, but not totally disconnected. After I tightened it, we plugged it in and it still did not heat up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. / JP

My coffee pot is not heating or perking the coffee grinds. Farberware FCP512S. I've tried to locate parts or buy a new one because I love it but have not been successful.

It sounds like the problem I've been having with all Farberware percolators lately. It sounds like the thermostat is bad, I called customer service and they are no help I was told that Farberware doesn't sell repair parts.I found a place in Miami Fl that can help. Goodman's at Goodmans.net their part number is 4FA-FTC and lists for $4.99 plus sh it's not an exact match it's slightly thinner then the original but with a little creativity it will work just fine I've fixed 3 percolators already

Farberware 4 and 12 cup percolators stopped making good coffee

I thoroughly cleaned my 4-cup percolator by brewing a couple of pots of plain white vinegar and scrubbing the build-up from the bottom of the pot (and running a couple of plain water brews through the pot after all the cleaning). The percolator now brews hot, strong coffee again!
