Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Samsung smt-h3272 hd DVR stuck on not authorized for service screen. It lost connectivity during a firmware upgrade when I had bad signal issues I can no longer get the box to initialize the cable company wants to replace the box but I have programming saved on there that I want to keep. Is there a way to manually initialize this box or to retrieve my Recordings?.. BTW is this box capable of playing DNLNA streams from an s3 galaxy device?

Your device needs to be replaced. Trust me, once you have problems with one you will continue to have problems. If they are offering to replace it free then take them up on it. And If all you want is the recordings off the device all you will need is a screwdriver and a desktop computer (or a SATA to USB connector.)

  1. Disconnect all connecting cables and bring the device to a flat level surface and wait a few minutes (some components stay charged for up to several minutes after power being removed. Take that time to have some milk and cookies)
  2. With the appropriate screwdriver remove all screws from the side and bottom of the unit and remove the units protective shell
  3. Remove the SATA cable and HDD
  4. Power down your home computer and remove the left side of the case.
  5. Attach the SATA cable to your motherboard and HDD and a 12-pin SATA power adapter to the HDD as well
  6. Power up your computer and access your file manager
  7. Apply show hidden files property to the root just incase
  8. Navigate to your saved files and copy them to your computer
  9. When you get the new one if you want them on it, you can do the same thing, just move the files from the computer to the new HDD. Take note of their location now if you plan on doing this.

SOURCE: TIVO DVR : Won't Change Channels

Set up your infrared blasters connected from your IR port on the Tivo and by placing the two lead lights in front of your cable box so it (the cable box) can read the signal.  Then go to Channel settings accessed through Tivo Central and follow the questions. It will ask you to change channels until the remote is working correctly.  This all worked on a different "input" on my Mitsubishi TV (it has multiple inputs.  I have the cable input on a different "input" to make it work.  Hope this helps.  Call TIVO tech assistance because they are the ones who talked me through this.

SOURCE: does the smt-h3270 cable box have pip

No it doesn't according to TWC. I have a 3270 and it doesn't support it. I got this info from the local TWC president. You can have PIP if your TV supports it by splitting the signal and watching it on another input.

This means that there is no camera signal getting to the DVR. Could be a bad camera, or camera power supplies, or connection to DVR or camera.

HDTV goes blank when connected to Fios HD-DVR or Fios DTV recvr.

If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.

Hello, There is an update for your TV at Sony Support and I would strongly  recommend to call Sony Support to update your TV as firmware updating firmware is risky job for novice and TV firmware can be damaged and TV will shut down.

Yamaha RX-V663 Not Providing 1080 Signal

First let me say that you have stated your problem very well. I completely understand the issue you are having.

I have been repairing a/v systems since they started selling them.

By your description of your problem, it is obvious that you have isolated the problem to the Yamaha.

Despite what Yamaha tech support say's, it is their problem.

I have been dealing with tech support for a lot of different manufacters for many, many years. I repair under warranty over 20 different brands, but not Yamaha. I have repaired plenty of Yamaha receivers but none with this particular problem.

It is not uncommon to find tech support people who don't know as much as they should about their own product.

Since I don't have the instruction manual or a service manual forthis model I can only be of minimal help.

What you can do, if you have your instruction manual, check it over closely for this subject on how to change the settings for the HDMI. If you can not find this particular issue, it is possible that the Yamaha doesn't support 1080i. I would be surprised if it did not, but stranger things have happened.

Another thing you can do if you can still not find an answer to this problem is to take it in to an authorized Yamaha service center.

If you have recently purchased this Yamaha, it will be under warranty. They get at least 1 year. Tell them the problem you are having and if they do not know how to solve it right there on the spot, or give you an answer that satisfies you, leave it with them
to have it fixed. If they are an authorized service center they will have to fix it or get it replaced for you if it is under warranty. It may need a firmware upgrade to the digital board. If that is the problem, then they can do it for you.

Let me know if you need any more help.
Sorry I wasn't more help, but an authorized service center may be your best bet.

Samsung lcd hdtv won't receive signal from fios hd receiver

Hey nothingsfree,

You may not necessarily have anything incorrectly set up, but there are a couple of things that I would suggest trying.

First, you'll want to make sure that your TV is set to the correct input source. Some TV's will require that the input source be changed in order to display any signals from an external device, like your HD-DVR. This can typically be done by accessing the main video menu using your remote control.

According to information provided by the manufacturer, you should be able to change the input source for this model TV (Samsung LN46A750) by doing the following:

* Press the "Menu" button on your remote control
* Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button to select "Input," then press "Enter"
* Press "Enter" to edit the "Source List"
* Highlight the signal source for the HD-DVR, and press "Enter"

Next, you may want to try updating the TV's firmware. In some instances, simply updating a TV's programming can eliminate any potential hardware or software conflicts between two devices. To update the TV's firmware you will need access to a computer and a USB flash drive. Step-by-step instructions and the firmware update itself are available through the following website:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcdtv&model_nm=LN46A750R1F&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=FM&vType=L&prd_ia_cd=02010100&disp_nm=LN46A750

Make sure to read all the warnings and disclaimers available though, as your TV may already have a more up-to-date firmware version than the one that can be obtained through Samsung's support page.

Should neither of these address the issue, you may wish to see if connecting your HD-DVR to a different HDMI input solves the problem. Much like computers, TV's have been occasionally known to have faulty inputs or loose internal connections.

If all else fails, I’d suggest contacting the manufacturer for further assistance. In many cases manufacturers are able to provide over-the-phone troubleshooting support, in addition to having access to a wider variety of possible remedies for hardware problems.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Connecting HD cable box to DVR too HDTV

When I hooked up my HD cable box using an HDMI cable, I had to go into the cable screen menus and select HDMI output. You may have to do something similar when using an S-video cable. Your DVD recorder doesn't seem to have an HDMI input, so you'll have to use the S-video or (worst case) composite video (red, white, yellow cords). Your cable box may also be scrambling the signal so that you can't record. That may be why you can record by bypassing the cable box.

If your using a set top cable or satelite box then it is an issue with your HD service. Call them . They may need to swap out the box and check the signal. If you have no box then you may wana boost or/and filter your signal. You can purchase a signal amplifier online or at any radio shack or best buy. You may want to ask SAMSUNG if there is a firm ware upgrade for your TV.
