I have a linskys wireless-g broadband router. my computer wont connect to the internet if the enthernet cable is connected to the router, but if its connected directed from my d-link (not really sure what to call it...:S) it connects to a network just fine. is there a missing cavble link or what?! what should i all have connected to what??
first thing, we need to know what this d-link is... Is this a modem? or another router? Can you check its model #, perhaps at the back? How many ports does it have? To verify your internet connection, try connecting your computer to the dlink and check its IP address (Go to Start> Run> type "cmd". On the black window, type "ipconfig"). Do you have internet connection when your pc is straight to the dlink?
I'm thinking that dlink is conflicting with the linksys settings. If it is, we need to change the IP address of the linksys router. Post back what you find out.
Connect from what you call D-Link to the internet Linksys port at the back of it, you need to configure the settings for Gateway and Local DNS for you internet and network
