Screen resolution problems

I have a similar problem to the one that someone else has posted, in the last 3 weeks, I keep getting an error on the screen - a white box appears suddenly on screen saying something like "NOT CORRECT MODE, RECOMMENDED RESOLUTION 1280 +1024 60Hz" I have tried various options in the display, settings dialog box from control panel but still getting the same problem. Also am getting "digital" and "analog" flashing in the corner just before this is happening and it sets itself to analog and then my screen goes down for 30 minutes or more at a time. I don't know if I should get a new screen or change the display settings again but I really need some detailed help on how to rectify this. Thanks in advance for your help. (My screen is only about 18 months old)

The words 'Auto Adjustment' keep appearing on the monitor screen. If I pull the mains lead from the monitor screen, it temporarily clears the message, but it soon returns. Help please!

hi, How do u do?? You must select the right resolution for your monitor, if you tell me the exact model name, I will tell you which resolution is best for your monitor. usually the last option in resolution list (windows resolution setting) is the prefect one, but sometime it's not correct.

Good day, I have an Acer AL2423W monitor. When I turn it on, for the first few minutes all I get are vertical coloured lines. After a few more minutes the screen images start to become visible, but...

Hi Friend, In this case what I would recommend you is to connect any external monitor to the system to check if you have the same issue with the external monitor as well or not.
If yes, then it might be the issue with the video card so, you can try updating the video drivers for the system.
If no, it means that the original monitor has some issues with itself..
Also what I would recommend is try to lessen the screen resolution instead of 1920 x 1200 to lower resolution and restart the system and check if it makes any difference..
Also update the video drivers for the system.

Error message

Kathryn, In the lower left, under the screen there is a row of buttons... One is labled "AUTO" have you tried pressing auto and if so does anything happen?? If not try pressing "MENU" first and then "AUTO"... What we are attempting to do is to get the monitor to accept the current settings so we can get the screen up and then deal with changing the resolution... In a Windows operating system the resolution is changed by going to "START" - "SETTINGS" - "CONTROL PANEL" - "DISPLAY" and in that window click on the "SETTINGS" tab and reset your resolution. This one might take some better communication that emails - because it would be easier to know in real-time how the monitor is reacting as you input various things... You can give me a call at 360-642-4993 or we can set-up a live chat. I'm assuming since you were able to place this post you have a second computer to work from? Bill

LCD problems... Can you help me?

it has nothing to do with your computer, if you put the monitor on a different computer it will do the same thing. the message comes directly from the monitor itself. you have to keep your screen resolution at 1280 x 1024

Either the VGA card or the monitor can not display the resolution correctly, so you need to get it back to where it was, this solution is for Windows users (not sure about other OSs), reboot your system and and get in the options start-up screen by pressing F8 at boot, choose safe-mode with VGA, if you see your desktop normally here then it's definately the screen resolution, set it back to a lower resolution (try 1024X768 and go downwards until it works fine), restart your system normally and you should be able to test new resolutions again, if it won't work using VGA mode then you might need to uninstall your VGA card but make sure that you have the correct driver for it before uninstalling, also please disable any onboard graphics card if you have one. I hope this would solve your problem, please feel free to ask if you any further questions regarding this matter. Thanks

Windows multiplied

what your son did is change the video resolution on your video card. right click on a blank area of your desktop, this will bring up a popup menu, left click on the word "properties" in the menu. this will bring up your display settings window. click on the "settings" tab. this is where the video resolution and color parameters are set. under screen resolution, there is a slider. move the slider to the left until the resolution is either 800x600 or 1024x768, then click "apply". this will get you back to a screen resolution that most monitors are happy with. if you had a higher resolution setting before, follow the same process to increase the resolution. also there is an option that allows you to test the resolution setting, and if it doesn't work, returns windows to it's previous setting. i recommend you use that option.
