SOURCE: Hi, I have a problem

The value does not matter, unless the server is part of a large "monitored" network that is centrally-managed. If this is the case, then ask the centrally-located system-administrator what the value previously was, the last time that the server was monitored. Re-enter that value.

Hi, I have a problem with HP server ProLiant ML110 G6. In Bios, I deleted value in line Set Server Asset Text. Help me restore it!

You can put anything you like into that field. It wont affect the server operation. The asset text is only for network management purposes, to assist in identifying the server from a remote location.

Hp proliant server dl380 g3. gettting PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable how to fix it..

Your server tries to "boot" from several sources:
* floppy-disk
* CD/DVD
* disk-drive
* network (if you have a "boot-server" somewhere on your network)

So, if your computer FAILS to boot from the first 3 devices, above, it will try the 4th, namely via your network-adapter.
When your computer finds that its network-adapter is *NOT* connected via an Ethernet cable to a boot-server, it reports "check cable" and "test of the media has failed".

So, why did your server *NOT* boot from the 3rd device, namely your disk-drive? Solve that problem, and the 4th device (the "network-boot") will not be tried, and the error-messages will not appear.

We connecting an external hdd, the sytem fails to boot up

when booting up keep tapping Delete or F2 it varies on different computers but it will say on the screen what button it is the enter the Bios settings or boot menu, if these ones dont work.
This should take you the the BIOS which most of the time is a blue screen with text on it and different option across the top.
Go to the section which indicates the Boot order. Follow the insturctions to change the order, you want your computer harddrive at the top and others like the CD drive and USB drive below it.
Hope this helps if you need any more info just ask.

Hello, I have 2 Operating Systems in a computer namely Windows XP(SP3) in C:\ & Windows Server 2003 in D:\ . I've deleted the file BOOT.INI accidentaly form X:\ drive(X:\ means all drives like...

Hi,
That's not a virus. Boot.ini is a default file needed for Windows OS to boot.
Fortunately, you can recreate the boot.ini files

This is a sample of the above Boot.ini file with a previous installation of Windows 2000 on a separate partition. [boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

Simple way to add operating system on a separate partition:
At the command prompt, type: bootcfg /copy /d Operating System Description /ID# Where Operating System Description is a text description (e.g. Windows XP Home Edition), and where # specifies the boot entry ID in the operating systems section of the BOOT.INI file from which the copy has to be made.
