The only tarps that can be sewn are canvas tarps. For your polyester one depending on the hole you will want to use tarp repair tape (not duct tape). The tape is really heavy duty and should hold up to regular wear and tear. You will want to clean around the hole with water and dry it well, this will ensure that the tape will stick well.

I have a B350, i want to sew with just straight ordinary stitch, but the top stitch is too lose, the bottom stitch looks great. IN other words, i can pull the top thread out without any problem.

You need to tighten the upper tension--higher the number, the tighter the tension. Be sure you are using the appropriate needle and thread for the fabric being sewn.

If using 100% polyester thread, be sure it is a good brand--not Coats & Clark, bargain bin threads, or old thread.

Mending a tear in a poly tarp

Some holes in a poly tarp are able to be fixed easily while there will be other tears that might be grounds for tossing the tarp. For most small tears you can fix them yourself using some tarp repair tape and vinyl repair cement.

Before beginning gather up all your tools, a damp towel, a dry towel, utility knife or scissors, a role of tarp repair tape, a small jar of vinyl repair cement and a hair dryer.

You will want to find a clean place to lay out the tarp somewhere where there won't be any wind blowing your tarp around. If you do have to fix the tarp outside use weights or rocks to hold the sides down.

Find the hole or weak spot on the tarp and if there is any fraying use your scissors or utility knife to cut off the frays. If there are any bumps you will want to cut them out too.

After cutting off the frays you need to clean the area around the hole. The reason you need to clean it is because dust and dirt can make it difficult for the tape to stick. All you need is a little water and dish soap on a damp towel. Rub the solution onto the tarp at least six inches all the way around the rip, you can clean farther to be safe, but six inches should be enough.

Wipe off the soapy solution with fresh water and wipe dry the area with a clean dry towel. Repeat this cleaning for both sides of the tarp.

To close the tear, place your tarp repair tape over the hole and extend it out at least four inches on to the undamaged area. First cover the tear horizontally overlapping if you need more than one piece of tape. Once the tear is covered completely horizontally overlap the tape with a layer of tape vertically covering the hole and extending four inches on either side. Repeat for other side of the hole.

It is important that after you tape up the hole you need to let the tape sit for ten minutes to make sure that it has bonded properly. When you come back after ten minutes open your jar or vinyl repair cement and apply a generous amount of cement over the whole taped up area. To dry the cement grab your hair dryer and blow hot air on the cement until it is dry.

And there you have it a fixed tarp, granted not all holes can be fixed this way. But after its been fixed you can use it again like new.

Singer 99 not feeding heavy thread.

Unfortunately, your domestic machine was not made to sew leather. It can probably sew lighter weight leather with a lighter weight thread. Your thread is most likely too heavy for the machine you are using so it is not able to pick it up properly.

What kind of thread do I use for the Expressive 820

You would use sewing machine thread depending on what you are sewing. If you are embroidering, you'd probably want to use embroidery thread. If you are quilting, you would probably use cotton or quilting thread. If you are sewing garments, then you will probably want to use polyester or polyester-wrapped cotton thread.

Be sure you are using the correct needle corresponding with the thread and project. (You don't have to use Schmetz needles, but this is a great guide.) Also, change the needle often to avoid sewing problems.

Sewing outdoor polyester ( denier) medium weight with outdoor polyester thread. bottom stitch is not straight? evenly spaced but irregular in alignment. Help?

increase the needle thread tension
the bottom stitch is a direct result of the needle movement pulling the bobbin thread up to the hole so for the bottom stitch to be irregular , so is the top stitch

I just had my Designer 1 serviced. Now it has problems with sewing polyester thread, which I used a lot before the servicing. It sews perfectly with rayon thread so I'm thinking the tension is too tight...

Your dealer should keep a record of what was done to your machine. Actually, they should give you a record of what was done to your machine.
Calmly let them know that it used to do this and now it won't. Maybe they can take care of the problem for you.
If they are not willing to help, take all of the repair documentation that you have on what was done and contact another Husqvarna Viking dealer to see if they can help.
