Re: Display appearing stretched

The original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.

Wide screen monitor distortionDepending upon the screen resolution that has been set inDisplay, the image will be distorted on these large wide screen monitors.
Create a large circle image using a draw program such as Paint (hold down theShift key as you create the circle as it will draw a perfect circle).
Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and adjust the Screen resolutionslider, increase or decrease the screen resolution then bring the circle imageto the front and check the image, if the circle is still distorted then changethe screen resolution and check the circle again until you are satisfied withthe image of the circle. When you are satisfied then click apply.

The picture on the screen is stretched to fit the wide screen and seems distorted. I can't find any settings for this acer monitor on my computer.

Try right click on the desktop and choose display or personalize, or a call close to do the display settings.

How do I adjust the image width on this wide screen? Everything appears distorted and wider than it is. I would like a narrower image.

This is one of the problems with the wide aspect screen. Most images seem to fit best on the older monitors.
You can go into the video properties and choose one the the display types that best display your image. Unfortunately, by taking a normal (to us) image that looked just fine on an older monitor and displaying it on a newer, wide-aspect monitor, you're gonna distort the image or crop it in a way you didn't expect.
My advice is to experiment with the display until you find something you can live with.

Monitor screen display stretched center but squashed/narrow edges

On the monitor itself, I am guessing this is a desktop? There are buttons for adjustment. Look for the menu button around the bezel of the monitor and press it. Scroll through the settings for the default setting and press that. Once the default settings are made for the monitor, then you can go to the graphics settings available through windows to get the resolution straightened out.

How do I rotate the screen when I rotate the Acer B203w

For Windows XP -- within the control panel, click on Display Icon and the following screen will appear. I have 2 monitors (Laptop and HP L1925 monitor). On the display properties screen, near the top of the screen, click on the “Settings” tab. When the “Settings” screen displays, select the “Advanced” button near the bottom of the screen.

The “Plug and Play Monitor …” screen will appear as shown below. From this screen, click on the “INTEL(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile” tab near the top of the screen. Note: Tab stretches the full width of the screen.

The "Plug and Play Monitor ..." screen will change to show Intel Graphis Media Screen. From this screen click on the “Graphics Properties” button near the center of the screen.

The screen will change to show the graphics properties. Note, the screen actually comes up with “DISPLAY SETTING” selection (in dark Blue on the Left hand side of screen). To change Display settings click on the words “DISPLAY SETTINGS” (left side of screen) and the screen will switch to show Rotation options. On the top of the screen, select the “Monitor” you wish to change by clicking on “Monitor” button. Next make sure the “Enable Rotation” box is check on the right side of screen and then click on “90”. Your monitor should rotate at this point to portrait. A message will appear letting you confirm if you wish to keep this new setting. Specify yes to keep the new setting.

This should do the trick.

1inch black line down right hand of screen

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
