Hello: Your problem seems to be in or around the tuner of the television, More then likely you have cold solder joints on the turner that needs to be resoldered. Also check the coax end protruding from the back of the set where u connect the cable and make sure it is not loose, a bad ground on this connector to the turner shield will cause this symptom. My professional diagnostic is that when the television is cold the solder connections are making contact with the board, and as heat builds up in the television while watching these connections tend to seperate and make limited contact, causing fuzzy picture and in most cases no picture just snow...
If you can get the tv to display the blue blackground(usually happens when there is no antenna or cable feed to tv) check to see if the whole screen is a solid blue, if it shows discolored areas around the screen then you might have to "demag" the screen. See if you can rent a demad coil from a tv shop and with tv on turn the coil in circular movements all over the front of screen till blue is solid.good luck!
probably a bad connection on the circuit board inside that heats up over time. the tap on the top probably moves the connection just enough To make it good for short time.
