Kodak 760h autofocus does not function

My Kodak 760h Carousel came with autofocus, which no longer functions correctly. I have been able to verify that the small white plastic worm gear on the worm shaft is cracked, which allows the gear to slip on the shaft rather than move the lens. I have found a place that sells a replacement worm shaft gear assembly, but cannot figure out how to disassemble this projector in order to replace the parts.

Check with the dealer who is selling you the part, to see if they can provide you with the required pages for disassembly, repair & re-assembly from the Kodak Service Manual. You should be aware that in some cases when this repair is made, it requires the technician to re-calibrate the auto-focus system. To do that, you will need 2 special tools (a "Target Slide" and a "Range Slide"), that were manufactured by Kodak for use on the assembly line and by their authorized warranty repair dealers. You MAY need those, as well.
As you can imagine, all this can begin to get expensive (if you can still get the special tools).... It may be more economical to try to locate another used projector on the internet... Here are 2 dealers I can recommend: For parts & tools - www.micro-tools.com
For used projectors - www.vinevalleyimaging.com

Good Luck!! Jim

SOURCE: My Kodak 760H Carousel projector does not advance

do you hear any sounds when you press the button? if not, the button may be malfunctioning. if it doesn't make a sound or movement in reverse either, there is a bad connection between the controls and the solenoids. if it does try to advance and not move the carousel, it's a mechanical problem in the mechanism. usually due to the grease getting sticky from heat and age. take it in for a good cleaning and an adjustment. there are a few cams in there that wear out after a while, too.

SOURCE: Kodak Projector 760H. Carousel won't

Chances are that your projector has a broken solenoid "link". This "Link" connects the slide change solenoid and the slide change mechanism. Over time this part becomes brittle & cracks, rendering the slide change non-functional. A pretty easy fix for an authorized repair dealer.

SOURCE: Kodak Carousel 760H wont advance or reverse

You have jammed the slide change mechanism. Turn the projector off. Remove the tray using the emergency release slot in the center hub of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle it a few times in reverse, then in forward. That usually clears a mechanism jam.

SOURCE: I am unable to latch the slide tray into my 760H

Terry,
I think I already answered this one, but it still appears in my question cue.
Make sure the locking ring (on the top of the tray) is on TIGHT on the slide tray. Turn the tray upside down. Rotate the metal plate until the arrow stamped into it lines up with the notch on the bottom of the plastic tray. That should solve your problem. Jim

Select projector class room

The problem you describe is a timing issue. Because the 760H is so old (about 45 years old), parts availability may be slim to none.... You may be dollars ahead to buy a working projector off the internet.... Try: www.vinevalleyimaging.com

Kodak carousel 760h projector

Yes, there is a fix. It's a pretty straight-forward adjustment. You can go to this web page: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-locale=en_US&pq-path=6499
The Service Manual there will detail the the adjustment.

What is the correct carousel for a kodak 760 H projector?

A KODAK Carousel 760H is designed to be used with either KODAK 140 or KODAK 80 Slide Trays. The KODAK 80 Slide Tray has wider slide compartments, which tend to be more forgiving for older, slightly warped slides.

Hi,
The kodak 760H needs occasional cleaning and lubrication of the mechanism. The grease gets gummy and sometimes siezes the motor as well. Take to service center to get it cleaned properly .

I have a very old Kodak 760H slide projector. I

Based on your description & what I know about those projectors, I suspect the solenoid "link" has broken. The "link" connects the cycle solenoid with the slide change mechanism. Over time, this plastic "link" gets hard, brittle and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional. The good news is there are still parts around to fix your projector & get another 20 years out of it. You should contact a factory-trained repair dealer to affect the repairs. Good Luck !!

Kodak Carousel Projector 760 H, Carousel will not move

Given the age of your Carousel 760H, the most likely cause is a broken "Link". The "Link" connects the cycle solenoid plunger and the slide change mechanism. The "Link" is made of plastic and gets brittle & cracks over time, rendering slide change non-functional. Parts are still available (www.micro-tools.com), but this is an involved repair is best left to a factory trained technician with a service manual.
